    T** **** Funeral Home in Ventura, California is a business that closed its business in Ventura approximately two years ago. It still presents itself as an operating business with an active local phone number, a physical address etc. We were provided their phone number by our local police department as they were on scene at my parents home upon my fathers passing February 11,2023. We phoned the number to T** **** Funeral Home provided by Ventura Police and they sent porters out to retrieve my fathers body. We chose T** **** from the list provided as they were a long standing business in Ventura and close to my parents home. When we contacted who we thought was our local T** **** mortuary we were confused. Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks in Westlake in Los Angeles County,( we are in Ventura County), is where our fathers body was taken and who was providing the mortuary services. Pierce Brothers were quite evasive as we attempted to understand how this had happened. They finally told us that T** **** had closed business two years ago and they would provide the service instead. To be clear the local phone number for T** **** was answered by Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks. We were never told that the Ventura funeral home was no longer in operation. We now have the inconvenience of traveling 50 miles from my grieving mother’s home to address the mortuary related concerns. This seems deceptive at best and possibly fraudulent in my opinion . Your help in rectifying this situation is greatly appreciated.
