I visited Mercedes-Benz of Thousand Oaks, after seeing a 2025 GLE 450e lease offer through a broker’s Instagram ad. After test-driving the vehicle, I was quoted roughly $700/month with $2,500 down—far higher than the broker’s advertised $550/month with $3,500 down for the same terms. First, I was greeted by Vinny, who then passed me to another salesman. When I mentioned the broker’s deal, the tone shifted. The dealership suddenly said they could “match or beat” the broker—effectively cutting him out. That’s between them and the broker; I only came for the deal, and that deal only. I texted the broker to contact their finance department. Soon after, the salesman returned twice claiming the broker's deal was “impossible.” I said I’d walk. He asked for one more chance to check. Minutes later—like magic—they said the deal was possible, but only directly through them—again cutting out the broker. Not what I asked for. Then came a two-hour delay. The salesman, Matt, insisted I could qualify solo for Tier 1—even though I told him from the start I’d need a co-signer. He said we’d e-sign with my mom if needed but wanted to try without. He even placed a "sold" sign on the car and gave me a thumbs-up, saying I got Tier 1. Later, he came back and said I was approved for Tier 2—exactly what I predicted. That meant $3,800 down, not $2,500. That’s not “the same deal.” When I pushed back, Matt claimed they don’t allow co-signers and that my family being out of state was an issue—none of which was mentioned earlier. He claimed he “just wanted to try without one.” Which is it? Not allowed, or just didn’t want to? To top it off, the broker began calling and texting angrily, saying the dealership told him I was trying to cut him out. Totally false. I kept him in the loop the entire time. I drove from West Hollywood thinking this Swickard location might be different from inner-city dealers. I was wrong. The experience felt disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional.
