I am rejecting this response because: My issue was not that they are a contingency based law firm.  My complaint is that:

1 - The way that I was treated by the lawyers.  They lied to me from the beginning. Then when I confronted them I was told that I would be ruining their lives if I reported their actions to the proper agencies. Yet they had no concerns for how they treated me. I told them from the beginning that I did not believe the homeowner had insurance. Yet I was told, repeatedly, that they would still pursue the case.  In fact, the very day that one person told me that she would expedite the investigation, one of the lawyers canceled the case! Their office could not even serve the notice to sue to the homeowner. I had to do it! When I enquired about their malpractice insurance their office refused to provide that information. I experienced nothing but repeated broken promises, lies, and being ignored. At the very least, this is highly unethical behavior on their part and something that I will be reporting to the ******************!

2 - The email address that they provided and assured me was secure was hacked. I was not notified of this nor have I received any information regarding the safety of my personal information.  A criminal act (hacking) was committed that involved my personal information (including my DL# and other identifying documents) yet I was not informed of this until I received an emailfrom the hacker. This, again, at the very least is unethical. The fact that a crime occurred that directly impacted my personal security and they did not notify me is something that I think I should report to law enforcement as I do not know if my personal information and safety have been compromised. I do not trust this law firm to be able to handle such a matter.

This law firm has done nothing but lie to me and comprise my personal information  I believe that they should be held responsible and accept  accountability for their actions.  If this is not resolved appropriately by them, I will be contacting law enforcement and the ****************** to see what my legal options are regarding these issues

I was completely upfront and honest with them from the beginning about there being no insurance. They lied to me from the beginning and said that they would pursue the case regardless. They LIED! That is not only unethical, but it is extremely irresponsible business practice.  They should be held accountable for their actions.

refused to provide it. Due to the stress of the fire and my current situation I did not follow through with filing a complaint. On 1-31-25 I received a strange email from their office. I did not click on the link. Instead I took a screenshot and emailed it to the case manager ***** ****** to find out what it was about. She told me that that email had been hacked. It has been nearly two months and I have not received any official notification of this incident or any assurances that my personal information is secure. This is the same email that I sent confidential information to such as my Drivers License and insurance information. I believe that this office committed fraud from the beginning when I was promised that they would fight for me even if there was no insurance. With this breach of information I would like for this company to be investigated and hopefully lose their BBB rating. If necessary I would like charges filed against them for this as well. I believe that they prey on the vulnerable.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/26/2025

This individual is no longer a client of this firm. Unfortunately, as a contingency fee law firm where clients do not pay us any money up front, we are unable to pursue cases where a financial return is, becomes or turns out to be unlikely. We wish this person the best with her potential case and advise her, again, to seek consultation with another law firm to pursue her claims and/or potential claims.

Unfortunately, due to privacy and ethical constraints, we are unable to respond in more detail and we wish this person the best and encourage her to seek out another law firm to evaluate her potential case/claims.

I am rejecting this response because:

This is yet another attempt at refusing to accept accountability for their actions! Where were their ethical concerns when their lawyer told me that I would be ruining their lives if I reported their actions? Or when they repeatedly lied to me about pursuing the case even if the homeowner did not have insurance? And what confidentiality issues are there? They didnt care about that when their system got hacked and my information was exposed! I am the one filing this complaint. Therefore there are no confidentiality issues.

This business made false promises then tried to intimidate me into not filing a compliant. Their practices are highly unethical and I suspect illegal.  They still have not even provided the information for their malpractice insurance.

If the is not resolved I will be contacting a lawyer to sue them as well as the appropriate law enforcement agency since they still have not addressed the hacking and illegal access to my personal information. I will also be contacting the ************************** to report the highly unethical behavior of both lawyers at this firm!

How many others have they done this to?
