Worst professional experience ever. I spent hours on the phone with the owner, Bob. He shared how much money he makes, how his poor wife passed away, how he likes 1 of his kids and so many more details. All I wanted was to have some shower and bath handles replated in “matte black”. First they were delayed for months after I paid, second they did the handles in Gloss Black (not matte), then they agreed to redo them to matte black. Not only did I not get matte black (they are actually blue) but the quality is so bad they are peeling after 10 months. He will not back up his work or do anything other than say “I did your job twice”. This guy and his business are as crooked as they come. This was all after he oversold me on his ability to deliver. I initially wanted to powder coat the handles but he said that would peel (oh wait… exactly what his horrible blue plating did). I would recommend running from this business. What a waste of $1400 and so many hours!!

    Business Response

    Date: 12/06/2022

    To Better Business Bureau,

We have received your letter, and this is what happened.

Job began December 2021 during Covid

Customer sent us 33 pieces to refinish

Customer needed additional handles and he supplied PRICEFISTER handles (Not as high a quality as we are used to dealing with). These handles were powder coated in matt black. Powder coating is a dry process like painting.

Delay due to Covid in office and refinishing department

We were asked to plate customers items in Matt Black. We explained that our process is plating a wet process with a protective coating and is a baked-on process. This coating is to protect from staining and loss of color and is a bit shiny compared to powder coating. We do not powder coat this is considered a lower end process of refinishing and we only do high end quality work. This was explained to customer.

Customer received pictures of refinished plated items with the matt black and protective coating He requested that we re-plate his items again.

April refinished them without protective coating and explained again that these are not protected.

Customer sent back handles and asked us to re-tap handles as well

Customer was still not happy with our process wanted us to match his powder coated items to a plated refinish that is a completely different process. They will never match. We refused to proceed with any more refinish for this client since we explained this to him in the very beginning before we even started his job and we will never be able to get the two types of process's to match.

November - Customer called and complained that his faucet is peeling, This is due to his refusing the protective coating to protect his finish.

We will not do any more for this customer, because there is no way to achieve what he is requesting.

We are a highly recommended company in our field and have been in business for fore than 50 years.

    Sincerely,

    Auburn Bath International
