My 1st appointment was on March 6th 2024. I took my W2, income and expenses on roofing business and income and expenses on timber harvest to ******. Asked if she was capable of handling all three states and federal return. She stated that she was able to handle all the above. I received a phone call 3-8-24 saying taxes were done and they were going to send me over a link so I could electronically sign and pay for them. I said Id stop by the office. When I got to office they had me sign electronically to file returns and I gave a check for $500. Before I realized, they wanted to e-file before we went over taxes. I said I wanted to go over taxes before they were submitted and she said ****** wasnt in the office and she wasnt qualified to go over them with me, so I made an appointment on 3-12-24 to go over them with ****** because I noticed that she made a lot of errors on my returns. I did not get check back. Trusting that she would go over the returns with me and fix her errors. Came for appointments on 12th, pointed out the errors and said I didnt agree with how she was doing the timber return. She said shed look into it. Plus I said Id call the mill. On the 18th I stop by office to tell her what I found out and more errors she had made on the returns. She became unprofessional, demanded that I give her back the partial copy of my return, to get back my money. I said I needed all my documents, and she denied having any of my documents. I Said we would wait in the lobby while she looked for them. She came out after a while with my documents and a check and said shed only give me my documents back if I gave her the return back so she could destroy all evidence. I was taking pictures of the error on returns, and she ripped part of the return out of my moms hand. She had tossed my documents with a check paper clipped to them on my moms lap when she ripped the returns away. Then ripped the check off my documents and said you arent getting your $500 back.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/01/2024

I was hired to prepare ****************** income tax returns.  During the initial meeting I explained to him that certain income he received was not taxed as a business but as a capital loss.  I completed the return with the information provided.  He came into the office, paid for the return, and signed the electronic filing pages.  He then scheduled a meeting to review the return.  During that meeting he told me that his mother spoke to various friends and other people about the preparation of the return, and they believed I prepared it wrong. At that point I offered to refund his money, but he would have to give me the return back.  He cannot have a tax return he did not pay for.  I asked him to wait in the lobby while I wrote the refund check and return a copy of his documents which were emailed.  When I approached him in the lobby he was taking pictures of the return "as proof that I prepared the return wrong".  I told him the return had not been filed with the government, therefore it had not been filed wrong.  His mother tried to hide the return from me, threw the refund check at me, and ran out the door.

I wrote a certified letter to ************** (attached) and included the refund check to his mailing address.  ******** certified receipt is 7021 2720 0002 1291 1913.

I am rejecting this response because:
Her statement were untrue to what happened. She mail a certified letter with a  check supposedly to my summer address that I dont get to tell around June and she knows that! So in 15 days it will be returned to her because Im not there. Im in ************ at my ** address which she knows! I talked to **** in ND and they said it be returned on the 11th of April. This is very unprofessional the way she does business!
