I requested a quote from 1st Choice restoration. I sent them pictures of the work area and a detailed description of what I wanted done, carpet and drywall. They sent me a quote for the work and came out to look at the room where the work would be done. We talked about installing the carpet over the rubber flooring and talked about potential ways to do this. Longer nails and glue was agreed upon. I txt'ed the owner the day before the install and reminded him to bring the longer nails and glue but the workers didn't bring them. The workers went back and get the nails but they didn't get the glue. The carpet was installed. I didn't complain about them not using glue as we'd agreed but wasn't happy about it.

When the bill came they added $250 for installing the carpet on top of a rubber floor. They knew about the flooring the entire time. They had pictures of the work area before they made the estimate and we'd talked the under flooring extensively before the work was done. They'd never said there would be an extra charge for this. I told them I'd be happy to pay for the originally quoted amount and they threatened to put a lien on my house. The owner confirmed that he never quoted me for this extra charge or gave me a verbal for the added cost. I never agreed to anything above the original quote. I paid them the extra $250 to avoid the lien and legal trouble but this is incredible unethical and probably illegal.
