On 6/18/2024 my wife and I dropped off our vehicle because of a dead battery and wanted to have our vehicle inspected to find the issue. On 6/20/2024 Pep Boys contacted us and that the inspecting had determined that the vehicles alternator was to blame for the battery issues and no other issues had come up. Pep Boys replaced the alternator at a cost of $640.82.On 6/21/2024 My wife and I picked up our vehicle and drove a short distance home approx. 2 miles away where the vehicle remained parked. On 6/23/2024 My wife made a trip to ****** in the vehicle during which the vehicle began emitting white smoke and a burning smell. The battery console warning came on the dash and the vehicle lost power. She was able to restart it long enough to get it parked safely. On 6/29/2024 After returning from a business trip we were able to have the vehicle towed back to Pep Boys.I explained that I had recently had an alternator replaced and that the vehicle began smoking and lost power after the service. The service person immediatley said that she remembered the vehicle and immediately reccommended a BLOCK TEST, writing it in BOLD letters across the new service ticket. On 07/02/2024 Pep Boys service called and told us that the Vehicles Head gaskets were shot and that the engine was dead and reccomended that the repair cost would be greater than the vehicles value. They would not address the alternator and told my wife that they could not offer a refund.Upon reviewing the original receipt for the work done there is no inspection report or recommendations. My wife filed a complaint with the corporate office but we have received no return communications
