This complaint isn't towards the staff at *********************, cause I love my Ace family, but for the people in **. I have worked at this store for almost 2 years now, and have never experienced this type of discrimination in my entire working career. This isn't a place for people of color to work at all. I have facial piercings, and had them when i started. No one in management has ever told me they were frowned upon until about a week ago. I spoke to the new GM, last week about my hours because out of nowhere they cut me down to 12 hours from my original 28. Before I could even really get into it, he tells me I'm out of dress code. Which is confusing to me because I was wearing my name tag, my work vest, black jeans and a black shirt, which is all required.. So imagine my surprise when he tells me it was my facial piercings. Which I explained I've had them this whole time and like I mentioned earlier no one ever told me I couldn't. He then tells me that he's not saying I can't have them but that I need clear studs. Because he doesn't want me to scare any old ladies. I told him I didn't have the money right now because I only work 12 hours a week and couldn't afford them. He then goes on ****** and finds places that are selling them for cheap, in his opinion. Which I feel was very demeaning and inconsiderate. It got brought to my attention later that the new girl also with piercings got told, she had till she got her first check to change out her jewelry. Why wasn't that an option for me also? After this I bring up that I want more hours, cause 12 hours is not a lot to work with. And that I've been trying to do what I've been asked, but I have limited cause I'm not there that long. He tells me that the workers that have more hours are more helpful and beneficial to the company than the people with less. Myself and my elder co worker are the only part timers getting 12 hours. We were told there wasn't enough money in the budget but then they hire a new person.
