on 8/28/2024 I saw Dr. ***** and she recommended that I get a 30 day heart monitor. After my appointment I spoke with ***** at reception and asked her how much the heart monitor would cost. She wrote down "Monitor CPT Code: *****" on a piece of paper with the business stamp on it, and told me to call my insurance for this code and ask how much the service would cost. I was informed that under that CPT code it would cost $30 so I told them to go ahead and order the test. As a second measure I also googled the definition of code ***** and found that it was for 30 days of heart monitoring. After I mailed back my heart monitor I received a bill from ************* for $800 under CPT Code *****. I called Aurora Denver Cardiology associates and spoke with ****** the office manager and he said that reception was supposed to inform me to call the heart monitor company to get an estimate, and because the bill was through ************* and I was charged for what I received that it isn't their responsibility and there is nothing they can do. I have attached a picture of the paper I received from the provider with a CPT code for the estimate as well as the $800 bill I received. I do not believe the reception mis-informed me on purpose, but at the end of the day they did mis-inform me and I never would have consented to the monitor if I knew how much it was. They are not willing to take responsibility for their mistake even though I have proof they made this mistake, they are denying it and saying it is my responsibility to pay it. Please help me and let me know if I have any protection to help me in this case.
