I adopted a cat from Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue (RMPR), listed as 5 months old. Upon meeting her, it was clear she was older. The staff insisted she was at most 1 year old. After receiving paperwork with conflicting birthdates (5 months and 7 years), I confronted them, and they claimed the older date was a clerical error. They promised to reissue the paperwork but never did. My vet confirmed she is about 7 years old with arthritis and dental issues. When I asked **** to contact the vet, they dismissed me and insisted she wasnt 7.The adoption fee was $250, assuming she was at most 1 year old, but now **** claims $250 is for older cats, though they still wont admit shes 7. This is just one of many inconsistencies. They were rude and unprofessional. They wanted me to return a 7-year-old cat to a shelter, where shed be kept in a small cubby with only food, litter, and a bed. I refused because I felt it was wrong.**** has numerous negative reviews, even from their own volunteers, accusing them of unethical practices, such as not disclosing aggression issues in dogs. They arent BBB-accredited, which raises more concerns. They rush adopters and promise you can contact them anytime, but they refuse calls and only respond selectively to emails. This shows how little they care about adopters once they have your money. Its hard to believe any vet would miss aging signs like arthritis and dental issues. My vet said whoever assessed her age was out of practice. Listing her as a kitten when shes clearly middle-aged feels like Ive been misled. **** framed my experience-sharing as a threat. Transparency is not a threat, its how others are protected from these practices. They seem to care more about lying to save face, than doing the right thing for animals and adopters. I strongly advise others to research and read reviews before considering them, as its clear they are more interested in their own profit than in the well-being of the pets they adopt out.
