On March 21st 2024. I contracted A.P *********************************************** LLC to landscape my front yard. Which was to include new sod, replace gate and edge the yard with white rock. **** showed me and my husband the heavy black weed barrier that would be used to prevent weeds in the rock. Once started seeing weeds in the rock, I dug up some of the white rock and found no weed barrier but found white sand under the white rock. It should have been all rock. My husband and I are in our 70s, we take care of my 90 year old mother who is a total invalant. We have been taking total care of her for 8 years, which has effective our health. We trusted **** to be honest. We paid **** $14,000.00 which in **** sight was too much. But at this point I just want the company to correct the problem. These are weed that will only get worse. I've tried pulling them up, but there are to many. I reached out to **** via email in May 2024, I also called the office and left a message but received no response. We a on a fixed income and can't afford to fix their mess. Please help!.

I have a contract with a description of the work that was promised including the weed barrier. I was unable to include it because it's on an old phone In my email. I can still access it, I just don't know how to send it to you since the phone is  no longer active. I am 72 years old and not very tech savvy

Here is our response and I have attached the files it would not allow me to upload.

    Dear *****,

We completely understand your concerns about the weed growth you're experiencing . While weed barriers are effective at suppressing some weed growth by blocking sunlight and preventing weed seeds from germinating, it is important to note that they are not a forever solution to completely stop all weeds.

Weed barriers can be an essential component of weed management strategies, especially when used in conjunction with mulch or gravel to create a physical barrier that inhibits weed growth. However, it is crucial to understand that weed seeds can still find their way into the soil through natural processes such as wind, water, or birds, and may eventually germinate on top of or through the weed barrier.

Additionally, existing perennial weeds with deep roots can penetrate through the weed barrier over time, especially if the barrier is not maintained regularly. In order to maximize the effectiveness of weed barriers, it is recommended to regularly inspect and maintain the barrier, remove any weeds that do manage to grow, and consider using other weed control methods in combination with the barrier for optimal results.

In conclusion, while weed barriers can be a valuable tool in weed control efforts, it is important to understand their limitations and use them as part of a comprehensive weed management strategy that includes maintenance, and integration with other control methods to effectively suppress weed growth.

Thank you for your inquiry, and we hope this information helps you in your yard.

    Sincerely,

    A.P. Excavation and Landscaping

I am rejecting this response because:
I have a contract stating a weed barriers would be used. ***** ***** dirt was used to fill in, instead of using all white rock. We have pulled weeds and used weed killer but it's too much. I'm sure there is a way to have an appointment expert determine if this was done. properly. My yard is sinking where the white rock was put down. Lack of a weed barrier and using dirt is causing all the problems. It doesn't take an expert to figure it out.

    Dear *****,

We appreciate your feedback and would like to clarify that we did indeed use a weed barrier for your project. We have picture evidence documenting the installation of the weed barrier to ensure the longevity and effectiveness of the landscaping.

Regarding the presence of ***** dirt or dust in gravel. It is important to understand that the occurrence of sand or dust in gravel is normal and to be expected. Gravel is a naturally occurring material that is formed through the erosion and weathering of rocks. During the production and handling of gravel, some fine particles such as sand or dust may mix in with the gravel.

          Sincerely,

          A.P Excavation & Landscaping

    Thank you,
    Alyssa

I am rejecting this response because:
The explanation given is not valid. A.P. Excavation installed the rock on March 22nd 2024, I contacted A.P Excavation the middle of May 2024 concerning the weeds. The ***** ***** dirt was explained by A.P as gravel created from erosion and dust from the rock. The entire area where the weeds are growing was filled in with white gravel to give the appearance that all white rock was installed. There was no weed barrier used. If you have pictures of the weed barrier Install, I would like to see them. Can you explain why white gravel was used to fill in where white rock should have been. I now see that the gravel is no doubt one of the causes for the weed growth. I am no landscaper, but I know you did not do the job correctly. A third party should be involved to take a look at your work. I'm sure you would not object.

I didn't pay for gravel to be installed. Your contract says you would be installing rock.

I hired this company based on their good reviews. I do have a work order/contract from the company. ****, the owner was aware that we are elderly and disabled and unable to oversee the work being done. The purpose for the rock was to eliminate the maintenance required. The amount of weeds that are taking over is unbelievable. I started seeing weeds in May which is when I called the office and spoke with *****, I heard nothing back and I sent an email to **** in June, still no response. Weeds do not grow to this degree in less than 2 month. All I want is for them to give me what I paid for. I also believe they over charged.

I have more pictures worse than the ones sent in.I am not very computer ***** and was unable to adjust the the size. This company took advantage of the elderly. I also have a contract agreeing to put down weed barrier.
