Id like to ask for some assistance w/ problems Ive had with a hardwood floor installed in June 2023. *** lived with the floor for almost a year and I am frustrated b/c I dont know how to maintain & clean it because of the materials and the way it was installed. The floor has several boards that are split and filled with a substance that does not match the wood, and most of the boards were installed with gaps on the ends that don't have a protective finish. There are also several boards that have the same filler material smudged on them, which makes the floor look dirty and damaged.I complained about this at the time and was told the gaps & splits create an overall look, I told them (installer snd office) that I would not have gone forward with the project had I known they would use those materials/ method. They said they werent certain if they had enough material (that wasnt cracked) in their warehouse, and that we could stop the project. But, I had to let them continue b/c they had already removed the entire (original) floor.I said wed need to adjust the price after I had a chance to ********************* floor. Over time i noticed more boards with filled cracks & the vent covers cant be opened completely so air has not been flowing correctly. My impression is that they were aware that the split boards were inconsistent w/ the showroom sample, & that the installation was compromised to accommodate those materials. The boards were not brought to my house ahead of time to acclimate and they didnt say the vent covers did not fi. The warranty does not address unfinished areas, how to prevent fraying and the splits from getting worse.I dont know how to clean or repair the ends so that they dont fray and chip (I have only swept the floor with a broom since the install, no cleaning solutions have been used). The floor looks fragile and old (some guests have asked me if they should not step on some areas b/c they dont want to make the cracks worse).

When I submitted my last response it looks like it closed my complaint.

The company response said they would reach out to me and I accepted that action, but I didnt realize that my acceptance of their response would close the complaint. I havent heard from the company yet. Should I open a new case if I dont hear from them or is there someone at the BBB I can talk to on the phone?

    Thank You

    Hi BBB,

Id like to request that complaint ******** be re-opened. I filed this complaint on May 6 for problems Ive had with a floor installed by McDonald Carpet One.

I accepted their response in the online complaint but they have not contacted me as they said they would (their response on May 10 said  they would contact me immediately and I have not been contacted). I would like additional assistance with this matter.

    Thank You,
