DO NOT go to ************ at the **** I went in for a partial knee replacement in Dec. '21. Upon release I had an immediate negative reaction to the surgery, my leg swelled to the point of non-usage. When I went to see the Dr. he had me get an MRI, which showed large amounts of undrainable fluid. Since I didn't have a ruptured quad, they gave me a strong dose of opioids, saying I had to wait for the swelling to naturally reduce. Two days later the pain was so intense I passed out and was shuttled to the *** After 16 hours of not being able to get a hold of Dr. ** they put me on a combo of Dilaudid/*alium and sent me home. Once the swelling reduced to the point of my having some usage of my leg, I began PT. However, I could only do minor range of motion exercises, nothing weight bearing, due to the swelling. At every check up, Dr. * never could figure out what was the cause, said my scans 'all looked great', and 'that my body was just rejecting it.' In April, he said 'you have two options, surgery to remove the scar tissue or continue to wait'. Just those two options. So I went in for a scoping, which did nothing. In June he was still draining 30mls of fluid from my knee. I said, 'Doc, do you think it could be an allergy?' He said, 'Well, that's a very controversial area, but we can get you a test. My asst will reach out tomorrow.' I then waited a month, calling his office twice a week. Nothing. So I had the test done on my own. I was allergic to the metal and had to get a full knee replacement (with **************** at Ortho One, who was amazing). If ************ had recognized the initial signs, I would never have had to go under for his scoping and wouldn't have had ten months of atrophy to my leg. I wish he, and the orthopedic medical industry as a whole, took allergies more seriously and considered it as a top possible side effect when using metal prosthetics. Why not try a non-invasive approach before cutting in again?
