I have hired 2020 tax resolution to resolve my back taxes and have paid them multiple times. I have had to deal with several diffrent people over the last few years and each time I have had to pay more. I now have been switched to a new person and she is telling me I need to pay another $8000 for them to represent me. I then asked for the time break down on my case for the money I have paid and the answer back from them was that they do not keep track of the time and that I can figure out how much time they have spent by going through all my emails. I was also told each time that the money I paid would cover my buisness and I till the taxes were settled. I have paid over $17,000 and feel like I have not gotten what I was promised or atleast a good reason of why it is costing more.Business Response

It is unfortunate but occassionally necessary to reassign cases. However, case reassignment is not related to our fees. Our work is done on a fee for service basis and when the scope of work expands it is possible that addiitonal fees can be requested. From the onset of every case we advise clients of that possiblility, going so far as to provide a list of situations that may warrant an additional fee. Although the consumer has requested in his complaint a good reason for our work costing more he has not responded to our calls and emails.
It is always disappointing when we first hear of a customer service issue through the ********************. We understand the importance of communication in resolving our clients' issues and have several layers of contacts available that we share with each of our clients at the start of our relationship. For whatever reason it appears the consumer decided not to discuss his issues with any of those resources.
We wish the consumer the best in the future.Initial Complaint

Following many attempts to get me on the phone I finally spoke to 20/20 Tx Resolution's *************************** and agreed to retain them in March 2024. After agreeing to a payment schedule, prior to the agreement I explained I've been out of work for a year after recovering from a major health scare. I told ***** that I work in a freelance environment and that this was one of my first opportunities to get income. Unfortunately my payments were controlled by a vendor who broke promises to pay me that resulted in asking for a delay in payment to 20/20 tax resolution. After I pushed the payment date twice ***** became very angry and rude and wanted to drop me as a client even though two payments had been done and no work started on their end. this was confirmed by a rep on my case *************************. After pleading with ***** on a call where he was very unprofessional, literally yelling at me on the phone, he emailed me the next day to reiterate they would no longer handle my case although they had been paid twice and a member of their team assigned to handle my ******************, admitted "i was just about to get started on your case." So in essence ***** was trying to pry money out of me after I told them of my personal situation but still proceeded to drop my case. *************************** from 20/20 Tax Resoultion should be held accountable for his rude demeanor displayed on a call on May 13th and I would like to be 100% refunded back the two payments sent in March In May rep ************************* confirmed no work had be done in between then.*************************** was threatening me on that fone call and later I informed the rep **** about it who was surprised and apologetic for *****' actions. This was a very unprofessional experience and now I have to start from scratch. I almost lost my life in the summer of 2023 and this was my first experience back and it was stressful and a regrettable situation. I mentioned the stress level of this to my primary physician who also noted this was unprofessional.Business Response

Our firm made every effort to accommodate this customer. When he was unable to pay the fee for our services within the scope of the agreement, we extended his time to pay and reduced the amounts to pay. Unfortunately, even after doing this, he refused to meet the payment terms he asked for. Having worked for him for over two months and having expended far beyond what we were paid, we decided we could no longer continue working with him. His refund request was beyond our 30-day policy, and the work we completed for him over two months exceeded what he paid. We understand that ending the relationship might have been difficult for the customer, but we did so with respect, transparency, and clear communication. We hope you can understand our frustration with having to respond to a complaint after our extensive efforts to collaborate with the customer and losing money in the process.Initial Complaint

I am rejecting this response because:I was never placed on a do not call list to my knowledge. They cold called me by choice several times. This company called me saying I could have debt to the state and it was in the amount of 2.0 meaning it could be $2 or $2 million; so they said. That was a complete lie! They were legit trying to scare me. I handled my business myself which was only going to talk to someone from a real company in my state in person about the said lien. Actually after it was all settled not only did I NOT owe money to the state but they owed ME money! This company tried scaring me for nothing and will try to scam you for things you can do on your own. They call you and say they will fight for you to get this so called owed money fixed when in reality its a simple fix that doesnt need a company to charge you to do it. They are based out of ******** and they search peoples names online to see who they can call and scare into getting that random person to pay them to make a couple phone calls, that is ridiculous! And they will have access to confidential info, I do not want some stranger from ******** having my social security number, address, and payment info!! And to think this is their actual job is absurd!
Sincerely,

I was contacted in December 2020 by this firm offering to get a resolution for my tax debt. Payments started at this time in the amount of $1500 and continued monthly until February 2021. A contract was signed on 12/22/2020. In March 2021, this firm collected another $4000 to do an offer of compromise. In July 2021 my bank account was seized by the *** after I had faxed the letter of notification to this firm. I was then charged another $3500 to get my money back that was from a COVID 19 disaster loan.I have spoken to 20/20 and keep getting promised that they are working on it. I have not received a phone call or anything from 2020 since March 2022, other than calls from other people and companies that their firm keeps passing my information on to. It has been 19 months and nothing has been done. I would like to get a full refund of the $12,000 that I have paid to this firm so that I can pay the *** and be done with this.Business Response

It is important to first say that your case, like all of our clients, is incredibly important to our company. Your satisfaction is our goal and anything short of that is worthy of conversation. It is also important to understand the facts, circumstances and details of a case in order to have a constructive conversation about how to fix a tax issue. This is a nuance that the BBB has abandoned in its role as "mediator."
In your statement to the BBB you mention that you have not heard from us since March. However, your tax team attempted to reach you many times to discuss a new Offer in Compromise after getting your tax levy released. In April, June and August (before getting this note from the BBB) efforts by phone and email did not get a response. Your tax team explained that your newest Offer in Compromise was complete and ready to be submitted - pending new financial data - as soon as the company was able to establish compliance with timely employment tax deposits, paid in full.
Compliance has been a problem for your company and something we have tried to work through with you for quite some time. This issue is taken very seriously by the **** especially in the case of money being withheld from employees and not paid over to the government. It is the reason the first offer was returned. It is the reason the company got levied. And it is the reason that any future resolution plan is in jeopardy before it is even in place. Nonetheless, we are prepared to work in defense of your best interests.
We are hopeful that we will hear back from you. Wishing you all the best.
