    Starting April 12th, we hadn't heard anything from the tax company we were using after getting a letter from the IRS to verify our tax return (we didn't know if it was a scam or anything since we never saw a letter like that). They would not return phone calls. I started looking up "where is my refund" on the IRS site. The site said we had not filed. We paid this company on March 18 to do our taxes and file. Unknown to us, the IRS sent three warning letters that my daughters' SSN numbers had been used on a (now it is a fraudulent) Federal tax claim to this company. The fraud included my wife and two daughters. No one told us until we started investigating why we hadn't got a refund, and we found out from the IRS. No one from their company office would/is returning calls. They have set up calls and then had to reschedule. We filed the fraud papers with the IRS after they helped (very nice ladies from the IRS, by the way). We also talked to the Colorado Revenue Office (again, very nice and helpful)... Yet, the company we paid for has done nothing. We had to send our paper tax papers to the IRS since they were not accepting the e-file from this company because of the fraud, and the only reason we did that on time was that we were checking about our refund the Friday before tax day and found all this out. No company member had contacted us to tell us the IRS was not accepting the tax papers, or I believe we would have been late with our taxes. The IRS has started an investigation (well, we sent the form to start, but we are not sure if it has actually started), and we will not get our refund until the investigation is concluded, which the IRS told us would be 120 to 650 days. We do not know if my girls' or wife's SSN came from their office for someone to file a fraudulent federal tax claim.
