My husband cut his finger at work and at to was advised he had to come to this specific urgent care. When he arrived he was turned away because the cut was too deep and he had to go to the *** There he got stitched up and a note to not work for 5 days. After that he was told he had to come back to Concerta to complete the Workmen's Comp forms. On that they didn't relay the 5 days of no working to my employer. I had a follow up appt with Concerta two days later (today) and my husband asked me to come with him because he didn't understand all the workmen's comp items and would feel better if I came to ask come questions and get clarification. They said they don't allow anyone else back there. As a medical provider this feels really uncomfortable and concerning. I have to go here but feel medically uncomfortable to do so. This practice of denying others upon patient request feels like a violation of my rights or something.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/16/2024

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention and for allowing us an opportunity to respond. Unfortunately, based on the information that was provided, we were unable to investigate this further without further patient identifiers. Can you please provide your husbands name, and/or the specific Concentra center that you visited, including the date and time? Once this is received, we will investigate this incident further.

In general, there are times when a patient presents to Concentra and their treatment is above our scope, in which the clinician would make the determination to advise the patient to present to the ******************** **** for proper treatment.  Colorado is an employer directed state for workers compensation and would be why the patient was asked to return to Concentra for their Workers' Compensation case management.  This also means that the designated workers compensation provider would be responsible to establish appropriate work restrictions based on the injury and workers job duties.

It is Concentras policy and standard to allow for family/friends to be present in the exam room; however, there are times where it is not appropriate or able to be accommodated.  Some examples of this include small exam rooms, clinician preference, or nature/severity of the injury.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Please provide additional information and we will look into this further.
