    On February 7, 2023 my son was in an accident on I-25. The state patrol called in Knob Hill Towing to tow his truck and put a hold on it. The tow company was called every other day to find out when the state patrol released the hold, which they did on February 9th. The tow company would not tell us on the phone that the truck had been released. They did write a letter on February 9th, but didn't mail it until February 14th. We could have picked up the truck on the 10th if they had told us on the phone that the truck was released and only paid four days of storage at $50/day. They also did a title search for $150 when they knew who the driver was from the state patrol, and had the registration in the truck. We ended up having to pay $1,588.75 total bill plus another $150 to have the truck towed to the house. They are keeping vehicles as long as they can to build up the storage fees.

    Knob Hill Towing responded to a Colorado State Patrol call to pick up a towing vehicle which had taken the wrong exit onto the South Bound I25, (at N Academy exit ramp) driving head into the traffic and caused a near fatal accident.

    The vehicle was impounded by State Patrol on the 2/7/2023  and put on hold by State Patrol and released by State Patrol on the 2/22/23. The State Patrol Release Of Hold Order, was signed and dated by CSP ************ on the 2/22/23.

    A vehicle title search, as per PUC guidelines was carried out on the 2/9/23. *************** was cordially written to, letter dated 2/9/23 and a certified mail receipt dated 2/14/2022 sent out. The writing and timing of correspondence is set out in PUC guidelines which was complied with.

    *************** provided proof of ownership and identification on the 2/24/2023 and paid storage fees relating to the period of impound, State Patrol Release Order and upto pick up. 

    A breakdown of fees relate to:

    Storage fees , 18days, $50 a day, $900 total

    Administration fees, $150

    Towing, Law Enforcement Call, 1.5 hours, $498.75

    Towing, additionals, oil absorbant/trash bags/disposal, 1 hour, $40

    Total of $1,588.75

     

    *************** has submitted a PUC compliant which we are responding to. KHT delivers ****** tows a year and receives one PUC compliant annually, and over the last 5 years had one complaint upheld.
