I had RD Construction do some work for me in the past that have done a good job. This job was supposed to be pouring a concrete driveway, paint some garage doors, wrap the lower portion of the garage door opening, do some minor painting and repair a small deck. The owner came and constructed the forms for the concrete and had the incorrect dimensions. I discovered this and he correct it. After the forms were done it was agreed that I would install the heater system. Once I completed this they came back and installed the rebar. I informed the owner that the rebar would need to be under my piping and he said ok. I came home and saw that they just installed the rebar over the top of my piping and I had to have this corrected. They did not have enough rebar to finish the job so they used some of mine that I had for another project. Throughout the project his workers did not have the tools that they needed to perform the job and constantly used my tools and supplies. They finished the concrete job and two days later I had a crack in my driveway. The I noticed they got concrete splatter all over my stucco and freshly painted garage door and the owner would not do anything about this. I told the owner and he basically said oh well. Then they put the sealer on the concrete. The owner came and he was cussing out his employees and said they used the wrong sealant. The owner went and got some different sealant and sealed over the first coat of sealant without doing any preparation or removing what he said was the incorrect sealant. The owner decided that other jobs were more important than mine and never came back and finished the other items that I hired him for. He got very angry and threatened me and so in order to avoid a confrontation we took the items that he did not do off of the final bill. Now the sealer is coming off and he will not fix it.

I was initially hesitant to respond to this incompliance I now feel compelled to do so The issue is beginning to appear more personal than professional and he is making a concerted effort to harm my business Its interesting that he mentioned the other job, completed back in 2021 Perhaps he is happy because up until this point job has not been paid $3,800 I believe the problem this time was that we requested a deposit upfront to initiate the project he was not pleased We wanted get paid We arrived at the location and immediately began our work he appeared and required us to relocate forms not because we were unaware of our duties but rather because he was uncertain about what he wanted Never were his tools used, on the contrary he used my skidster to make trails and his firepit We had materials to complete the project, the sole tool we borrowed from him was a compressor which he offered. He would however put my employees to work for him and say it was on the contract. I went back the next day to solve the issue because I kept getting videos from the costumer saying he wasnt happy. When we contacted to collect final payment, many excuses were presented, including the fact that the house was sprayed with concrete and that we had used his rebars (brought up until we wanted to collect payment). I never threatened him, if this was the case, I wouldnt have received payment, and police would have been involved. We met in ****** to receive my payment. He had prepared an agreement for me to sign, and we conclude the matter. A few months later, I heard from a colleague that he spoke badly about me. And now he reaches out to me and adds a client that I currently work with to the chat I didnt think that was the appropriate way to get in touch with me and just asked him to call me I spoke with him later that day and told him that I was unhappy with what he was attempting I no longer wanted to assist him

I am writing to express my rejection of RD Constructions response regarding the driveway sealant work performed on my property. While there are several issues with the overall job, my primary concernand the focus of this complaintis the failing driveway sealer. Please see attached pdf in response to Mr. *********** reply to my complaint.

I would be more than willing to repair the sealant provided that he agrees to pay the outstanding balance for the pending invoice. I will send him a contract that stipulates that he will pay me immediately upon completion of the repairs, provided that he agrees.

I am rejecting this response because he speaks of an outstanding balance and there is no outstanding balance. Now he is just making up stuff. If he has a signed agreement where I gave authorization for any other work I would like to see this. This is from a reputable concrete company:

Concrete Age: Choosing the Right Sealer for Different Stages
The age of your concrete driveway is a critical factor when selecting the appropriate penetrating sealer. Different stages of concrete curing require specific types of sealers to ensure the best protection and performance.
      1) Newly Poured Concrete
When dealing with a newly poured concrete driveway, it's essential to allow the concrete to cure properly before applying any sealer. Curing is the process of maintaining adequate moisture and temperature conditions to ensure the concrete reaches its maximum strength and durability.
For new driveways, opt for a breathable, water-based penetrating sealer. These sealers are designed to allow moisture within the concrete to escape, facilitating proper curing. Applying a breathable sealer too early can trap moisture and weaken the concrete's integrity, so it's best to wait until the concrete has cured for at least 28 days before sealing.

Notice is says that the concrete should be allowed to cure for at least 28 days prior to applying any sealer! RD Construction did not do this they did the sealant the very next week. They did it with the wrong sealant the first time and then applied a different kind of sealer over the top of the wrong sealer without any prep and it is clear that they did not allow the concrete to cure properly. So why would I want them to come back and try and charge me for something else that I did not authorize and then do the job incorrectly again. I would like a $500.00 refund so I can purchase the sealer myself and do the job right.

      Sincerely,

      **** Furnace
