My initial lease contract for ************************************************************************************************ was from 8/25/21-8/25/22. In April of 2022 property management switched from MyBlock to the View at Wash Park. From April 2022 to July 2022 I was informed that my rent would go up $1,000 should I renew my contract for another year. Based on that information, I decided to terminate the renewal contract 8/25/22 and begin a month by month contract with a move out date of 9/26/22. With agreement to terms and move-out date (attached), we agreed that I would pay 1 month's rent. Because I had paid full rent for 8/1/22-8/31/22 for $2,595, I paid the remainder ($1,707) 9/1/22-9/16/22 to complete my monthly payment. The View at Wash Park has sent to a collection agency ************************* **** a request for a payment of $337. This is them making up for a full month of payment for 9/1/22-9/30/22, not agreed upon in our agreement. In addition, they also chose not to return my security deposit of $800 (I know it's not guaranteed). In all, to cover their raised price of $2,844/month, they collected my month agreed payment of $1,707, my security deposit of $800 and are requesting an additional $337. I want to dispute the $337 and be cleared from the collection agency, and hope to not hear from the View at Wash Park going forward. I believe the charges are unjust and a breach of terms.

On July 6 I paid $1524.01 for an apartment. As a transitioning veteran I paid first months rent as they requested along with the down deposit. A week before I was scheduled to move in I received a call stating they the wouldnt give me the keys until I got a job offer letter as my LES/ Paycheck did not show the right amount of income. As a transitioning veteran I had already scheduled paperwork to that address as they gave me the unit 205, address and move in date. I had to last minute reschedule house hold goods with the **** which was a headache. Two weeks go by and they call me again saying they are going to deny my account and send my money back and I would get it in 10 business days. As the money I used for the first apartment The View at Wash Park was my saved rent money I was expecting to use that for my new place since I was denied. Ten business days go by and I did not receive my refund. I called to verify where it was. I was told it was sent as a check which is very inconvenient because this is money I sent them electronically and was expecting it to be returned as such. On top of that the check was sent to my duty station which I lived 2 and a half hours away from. I drove to my base because I really needed this money as I was about to lose my housing and job. I get to on post mailing and I didnt receive the mail. I called the apartment to verify and I was told they just sent the mail today being August 1, 2022. I was originally told July 17 it was sent and I was going to receive it in 10 business days. I asked to receive it electronically I was told no. I asked to change the address to which its being sent as I live hours away, I was told no. I asked if I could pay for it to be expressed to secure new housing, I was told no. The apartment complex was very nonchalant in my situation as if they did not care. This was all extremely emotionally stressful since my job, schooling, and housing depended upon receiving this money back in a timely manner.
