On 09/16/2024 I requested copy of my transcripts with Metropolitan State University and I have not receive them yet. It usually takes 24/48 hrs and a week has ********* is hard for me to understand why they have not provided me the transcripts. I already paid the $10 fee. I have been calling every day since 09/18/24 and they said that it will be ready next day.Business Response

Hi,
Thank you for your inquiry. I checked with the ****************** and their records indicate that Parchment was having difficulties locating your record. On September 24, the Registrar emailed you that while they tried to resolve this issue, they would mail you copy of your Transcript.

I am rejecting this response because: it has been too many days since I submitted my request. The process of making Parchment part of this process is supposed to make things easier not more difficult. It is difficult to me to believe that Parchment can't find my records. The records are there and they need to be submitted to me as soon as possible.
Sincerely,

I signed up for summer 2024 classes. Once I finished the 2024 spring semester, I checked the school website to see what date the summer classes begin. The homepage on the school website showed that summer classes for 2024 start on June 10th. I marked the date and took my break between semesters. On 6/6/24 I received an email from the professor in one of my classes saying that I have missed 4 assignments. I was unable to gain confirmation of the class start date from the professor. On 6/11/2024 I decided to drop the class while I was inside the class drop deadline for 100% refund (or so I thought). My account showed a $0.00 balance when I dropped the class, without any notation or alert. I checked the next day and still had a $0.00 balance. Last week I was made aware that I have a balance. I called the *************** and was directed to file a tuition appeal. I filed the appeal on 7/23 and was sent a denial letter or 7/24. The letter states that it is the student's responsibility to add and drop all courses on their records by the deadlines provided by MSU Denver. This is an unethical business practice as the ************************ are rarely available at the time of class registration and rarely accurate. The information provided by the school is deceptive and not easy to obtain or navigate. Yet, the fact that the information is posted in at least one place are used as grounds for charging students for services that werent even received. In addition, the information is posted in terms that are not understood by all.Business Response

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act or FERPA provides certain rights for students regarding their education records. This prevents us from openly discussing a student's records, including financial, with third parties.
That said, before they can register, ALL students are provided the text of our Financial Responsibility Agreement (FRA) which they must read through to get to a check box that they must tick indicating that they have read and agree to the terms of the FRA. Failure to do so prevents the student from being able to register. We do this to ensure transparency and to ensure students know how to access important information such as refund deadlines. In the FRA, students are advised and agree that they are responsible for dropping their courses by the published deadlines to avoid charges for those courses. Further, they are provided instructions and a link to where to find these dates in their "Student Detail Schedule."
To meet the educational needs of students, accelerated courses, or Part-of Term courses, are offered in addition to the Full-Term courses that run the entire semester. The published Important Dates and Deadlines document advises: The drop dates are different for part-of-term classes. Specific refund dates for part-of-term classes can be found on
your Student Detail Schedule in your Student Hub.Academic Calendars and other communications to students will have warnings similar to this one for the Summer 2024 semester: The 100% refund drop deadline for full term courses is 06/13/2024. Please check your Student Detail Schedule for drop deadlines for all other part-of-term courses. Please note, you will be responsible for tuition and fees if you fail to drop your classes by the posted deadlines.
If the student has specific concerns about their Billing, they are encouraged to contact the *************** to discuss them in detail.

I am rejecting this response because: I have contacted the *************** to discuss my concerns in detail. However, I feel that I was not provided an opportunity to discuss my concerns in detail. I spoke with a student on the phone at the *************** who directed me to fill out a form that did not fit the reason for my complaint. The form got rejected within 24 hours via email. I have been a compliant student and it is very clear that I was trying to drop the class before the deadline. The school makes it difficult to locate the specific drop dates and difficult to dispute charges. There have been many classes that have started a week late and ended a week early. Those schedules are all in writing and I have paid for lost time in those classes. It seems that MSU does not adhere to their written agreements unless it benefits them financially.
Sincerely,
***************Business Response

I have attended MSU Denver since my freshman year in January 2020. In June 2018, I enrolled at the university for 4 classes, but later decided to attend a different university. After speaking with a representative in MSU Denver's registrar's office, I was advised to not pay my tuition bill and the university would see that I was not attending classes at their university. This was not the case, therefore I was billed and accounted for in these 4 courses. Upon notification of this situation, I paid the tuition for the classes I did not attend and re-enrolled in 2020, retaking all of the classes I received 0s in due to my absence. I have attended the university ever since and excelled academically in my courses, however these grades remain on my transcript, hindering my ability to be admitted to graduate school with the *** I have earned in classes I attended and took. I have tried to work with countless employees, administrators and supervisors at the university to get my transcript amended and no one has helped me fix this issue thus far. I am simply looking to retroactively withdraw from these courses to have them taken off my transcript, and thus removed from my *** calculation. I plan to graduate this spring with my BA and I am now having to deal with the possibility of not graduating and taking more classes to make up for these Fs due to this issue.Business Response

MSU Denver has a "Best Grade Stands" Policy that governs repeated courses:
"Best Grade Stands:
A students grades for repeated courses will be removed from *** calculations, regardless of the original grade earned. Only the best grade and its associated credit will be calculated in the *** and earned hours totals. Other attempts for the course will appear on the official academic record but will be annotated to indicate they do not count for academic credit or *** calculation. This policy applies only to courses taken at MSU Denver, and it does not apply to courses designated as repeatable toward degree requirements.
To qualify for this policy, a repeated course must carry the same title, course number, and semester hours as the original course. Officially recognized course equivalencies will apply, excluding transfer course equivalencies. The determination of course equivalency will be made by the Office of the Registrar in consultation with the ************************** and the academic department offering the course."Please refer to the Catalog for more information about this and other policies. I took 2 classes in the summer of 2017 and for them in full. I was a non-degree seeking student and needed those classes as prerequisites for my doctorate degree. I took them online and passed both classes. The next semester MSU is saying I registered for the same class Introduction to Sociology [SOC-1010-SP1 ************]: Welcome to a Self Paced Course, which I did not register for a second time.I was never sent anything in the mail, only through my MSU email which I would not check because I was finished with the class and was attending a different university. I was never contacted by the professor either regarding the class (it was self paced online again and I should have had contact like I did the first time from the professor. It was the same professor.) I was turned over to collection and sent them and MSU all the proper documentation to prove my case. They both stopped calling me. I have not received anything from them or MSU for the last 4 years. Now my state tax refund was sent to MSU. I do not owe this and need help trying to get MSU to refund my money.Business Response

Due to the protections afforded students through the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, details of their accounts and educational records cannot be released. However, the student's balance is correct as reported. I have attempted to contact the student directly with no success. They can contact the *************** at *** Denver directly for an explanation of their account.Initial Complaint

I am currently paying off an 10+year old debt for tuition. I have been making payments with a Debt Collector known as *******************************, from my understanding my debt is not sold. My issue is that in August 2022 I was expecting a $750 tax return. My return was intercepted by MSU Denver and should have been put towards my balance, it has not, it has been 3 billing cycles and MSU Denver has not applied this $750 credit to my account. I have called the Busar at MSU Denver and have never received any call backs. I have contacted the Debt Collector ******************************* and they tell me that the $750 was applied to my account and then was retracted, they do not know why. I have reached out to W&F twice and they tell me they do not know why the $750 was pulled back and that through several attempts MSU Denver is not returning phone calls. My balance is $1000 and this $750 is HUGE in paying of this balance. I would like MSU Denver to take my $750 that they took from me and apply it to my balance so I can pay this off before Christmas.Business Response
