I had cataract surgery on September 21, 2023. Harvard Park surgery center overcharged me $1700. I was told the claim was run against my insurance, and that my debt deductible was not met. I was told I needed to pay this extra amount (*****) in order to proceed with my surgery. Two days after surgery I called my insurance company and was told that claim was not filed and that Harvard Park incorrectly billed me an additional $1700 from what I owed. I have called Harbor Park surgery center four times and emailed them twice. It is now January 3. The last voicemail response I received, which has the same message as every other return voicemail, is that my refund is pending approval. I put this charge on my personal credit card account and am appalled that Harvard Park surgery center cannot approve and send my refund three months after my surgery. please contact them to refund my money. I appreciate any help you can give me thank you. Acct #*****

The refund for this patients date of service has been approved. We are waiting for the check payment run to be approved and then mailed to the patient.  I am so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused this patient and we appreciate the feedback moving forward.

I am rejecting this response because: I would like Harvard Park Surgery to provide a date of when I will receive my refund. I put this on my personal credit card 4 months ago. I am in a budget and this has been 4 months of stress and horrific customer service. Every time I ask for a date of when the refund will be received and if I will receive a check or credit back to my card. Saying they are waiting for a check run might mean they will hold my money for 4 more months. Please get a date and form of payment. I appreciate your help.

    Sincerely,

On April 27, 2023 I had a device implanted in me at Harvard Park Surgery Center. Before the surgery, the front desk stated that I had to pay a total of $1,848.98 which was my out of pocket for the entire surgery. My deductible had already been met. I explained that I didn't have that and who would. They said that they could put me on a payment plan. My mother allowed me to use her card and so I agreed and the woman signed me up to take out $243.11 from my mother's card every month on the 16th of each month after an initial payment that day of $486.20. In August, I decided to pay an extra $350 using my own Care Credit which would leave a balance of $40. To my dismay, the automatic withdrawal for the full amount came out of my mother's card on September 16. I repeatedly called the billing office without anyone returning my call. Finally, ****** returned my call on September 27 and she was very nice and helpful. She said she'd look into it and would get back to me. She left a voice mail on October 2 informing me that they'd found the Care Credit amount and that I would receive a refund to my mom's card. Then October 16 came around and another $243.11 was deducted from my mother's account and we hadn't received the refund yet. This time I called and was a bit angry on the message that I was forced to leave. A man called me back right away and had no idea about the care credit or why I was still listed on the payment plan. He said he'd look into it...and get back to me. He never did. I had to call back and this time I spoke to a woman who, you guessed it, said she'd look into it. Harvard Park now owes my mom $445.82...and most likely we will receive another deduction on November 16. I am having a very extensive surgery (thankfully not at Harvard Park--Never again) on November 13 and need this resolved by the end of next week. This is freaking ridiculous.
