In November 2024, I contracted Tipping Hat, based on their assessment, to completely replace my boiler and add a new air conditioner to me new home. Over the course of many months, I continue to have issues with the work done, specifically now the air conditioner. It was installed in my attic (at their guarantee that there would be numerous fail-safes to confirm no flooding), and now it has not yet worked (this is 8 months now) and the most recent leak actually started leaking into my kitchen from the attic. They continue to "try" to fix the work, but it continues to be issues on top of issues. There are probably > 25 trips they have had to make to try and repair the work done and it continues to be an issue. So I have a boiler with continuing problems, a garage with continuing electrical issues (which were caused by someone trying to repair the hole in the ceiling they caused) and now an air conditioner that is ruining the kitchen ceiling and the kitchen below it.Business Response

Tipping Hat Plumbers 5/9/2025 I had a spigot pipe freeze over the winter. Of course I didn't notice until I went to use it a couple weeks ago. It was leaking in the basement too.. a mess. To make matters worse, it was a Friday and it was hard to reach anyone to assist.Tipping Hat Plumbers came out and said they could fix, but the charge was going to be $1300.00. Of course this seemed outrageous(probably 3 or 4 time what it should cost), but I really didn't know the scope of the job(was there drilling? was there soldering? how long would it take? materials cost). In addition, I had a leak in the house and it was a Friday. Caught! The tech came out and repaired it in less than 25 minutes, and said the materials cost about $100. omg!I reached their ice-cold customer service manager(*******) on the phone and she basically said, "tough!. You didn't have to sign. We charge a flat rate, no t&m." Blatant and callous.I explained in a Tipping Hat online review, and one of the owners was good enough to respond saying to call them back. I did, but of course, no response.***** and ***** (Seniors in ***********)************Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I did get a call back today at 1:04p, like they said. Of which I promptly called back twice.. Voice mail only. But to say they've called back several time with no response isn't true. Why on god's green earth would I not respond? I take the time to call their customer service, do a Customer review, and to post on ********************... but don't respond directly to Tipping Hat? Makes no sense, and I have a record of everything .. Please keep it real and call me back one more time.
Sincerely,

On December 30, 2024 our kitchen under sink disposal stopped working and we called Tipping Hat who said it needed to be replaced. When the technician arrived he calculated the cost of a 1/2 HP to be north of $1,300. It's pretty hard to compare prices if someone has to come out to your house to give you an estimate and in many cases, charges for the visit. My husband agreed to the price because it's around the holidays and we needed it fixed asap. That price seemed extreme so after the work was done, I asked to see a breakdown of costs for parts and hourly labor rate. The technician was here for one hour. They told me they could not or (would not) do that. I don't think that's how reputable businesses work. When I called them to resolve the issue, they told me the cost would be the same if it took one hour or two hours and that the cost of installing our own disposal would be $640 which includes a two year warranty but since they swear by the product that seems unnecessary. Again, the work took exactly one hour. I have no idea how much the parts cost because the brand only sells to licensed plumbers but it looks like one can be purchased on **** for around $100. I googled if plumbers should give you a breakdown of costs and it looks like that is the industry standard is that prices should be transparent and breakdown should always be available. I spoke to the manager on duty and she is giving us a ten percent credit but I still feel that i have been royally ripped off.Business Response

Tipping Hat installed a new furnace 3 to 4 years ago. Since the furnace has been installed it has stopped working several times every year. The furnace is still under warranty and they have come out to fix the furnace and have replaced several parts. However, this is an ongoing issue and this year I have not had heat for approximately 20 days. They did send someone out 3 different times this year. Also, they sent people out on 11/27/24 to run a complete diagnostic and stated that they would write a report to help determine how to fix the issue. They replaced another part at that time and the furnace was working, but stopped after about 10 hours. In addition, they provided me with a direct number to someone in management in order to resolve this issue. Currently, I do not know if the report has been finished and if they have a plan to fix or replace the furnace. I have left several messages with the direct contact letting them know the furnace has stopped working and asking if they have a plan to repair the issue. I received 1 return call back on 12/4/2024. I missed that call and the voicemail they left only stated that they were returning my call. Tipping Hat needs to stop ignoring my calls and needs to completely repair the furnace or replace it.Business Response

I had Tipping Hat install a new Rheem HVAC system in my residence, approx 2 or 3yrs ago. Since that time I have had multiple issues with my system. Namely an alarm for a float switch. I have contacted Tipping Hat for repairs, they do send a tech out however this is an on going problem that they cannot or will not repair. The cost of this system was a little over $16,000. I would like them to completely repair of replace it.Business Response

purchased a breezair evaporative cooler and had installed at the end of March. asked them to leave the fan to operate so i could get cool air in the house in the evening.after they had taken my old swamp cooler off of the house i was then informed that the could not supply the controller that they promised in the contract. they would supply an alternate controller that would work. I contacted them on Friday may 31 to schedule a start up. they schedled it for monday the 3rd.delay that to later in the day monday, then to 2 different times on tuesday. at 5 pm on tuesday a plumber from their company showed up an appologized that he was not familiar with this unit, but would see what he can do. he told me that it was a part that he could not get that evening. he would be back on thursday first thing.he came today and has deducted that the unit needs to have the breezair controller on it to make it work, and not the simple controlled that was provided.Business Response

Purchased a heater from Tipping Hat on 07/20/2023. On Saturday, 10/28/2023 the heater stopped working. I called Tipping Hat as have office hours listed for Saturdays from 8am to 5pm. I reached a technician who told me he had no appointments until Monday. I said we are having a snow storm for the next few days and I need the heater fixed that you just put in and is under warranty and he could not help **** asked to speak with someone in the office and he said he was the only one working today. I said then how do you help customers who have a warranty and need emergency services. He said we are not an emergency service and offered no help to honor their warranty. I ended up calling another company to come out today. I would like Tipping Hat to reimburse me for the emergency call as they have no emergency services to help customers with a warranty.Business Response

Tipping Hat Plumbing, Heating & Electric did install a boiler for ************************* on September 7th and 8th. Mr. and **************** had concerns that the hot water was too hot in the home and wanted to have it adjusted to make sure it was a good safe temperature. An appointment was set for October 19th but we were unable to get a team member out to adjust the temperature on that date or quickly schedule for another appointment with *****************
We fell short in getting the adjustment done in a timely fashion for **************** and her husband. Fortunately, **************** had a family member who is very familiar with the installation and operation of boilers who was able to stop in an make an adjustment to the system. Tipping Hat has sent an appreciation gift card directly to this individual to compensate and thank him for his time and effort in assisting *****************
We have also recommended setting up a follow up appointment if **************** has any further concerns regarding the temperature or operation of the boiler. The boiler seems to be working properly at this time. **************** would like to monitor things and give it a bit of time before setting up any future appointments until she feels an appointment is warranted. I have recommended reaching out to me directly to schedule a future appointment if she so desires.

I requested that Tipping Hat come out and determine if my HVAC could be repaired or needed to be replaced. A person came out and told me that they could do a rejuvenation of the system and they would guaranteed the system for a period of time, and the process would take about four hours.Their service person came out and spent less than an hour on the system and explained to me that the cost of repairing the system would be as much as replacing it.They still charged me $359.I call the company to complain, explaining that I was willing to pay $60 but not $359 since they did not do anything like a rejuvenation. They refused to give me any kind of credit.I disputed the charge with my CC company, however Tipping Hat showed the CC company that I had signed the invoice and I had to pay the full amount. It is simply not acceptable for a company to promise to do a rejuvenation, and charge for it, but not perform what I paid for. I am happy to pay for the service visit, but not for the rejuvenation that I did not receive.Business Response
