I was laid off from my previous employer last fall. I'm still looking for work and met ****** Loop from Kelly Education at a virtual job fair. We spoke during the job fair and arranged a 1:1 meeting to discuss substitute teaching opportunities. Having been a teacher in the past, I was entertaining this idea until I found a better job because they were offering health benefits, and ****** told me that ******************** is looking for substitutes. This school is near my location and has an arts focus, which aligns with my teaching experience. After speaking with ******, I began receiving emails from someone entirely new named, **** ******. I had to jump through all of her hoops by taking their orientation, upload my college transcripts, take a Red Bag safety training course, pay $56 for fingerprinting, and $95 to the state for certification. During the month of December, I received no less than 30 emails from ****, harassing me about how far along I was in completing their crazy requirements to become a substitute teacher at ********. After I had completed all steps after the new year, **** went silent and was not responding to my emails. She then informs me that Kelly Education services is no longer contracting with ***********************. In the 30 emails she sent to me during the month of December, it never occurred to her to mention this to me??? I just wasted $150 that I could have put towards actual health insurance. When I asked if they would be reimbursing me this money, I was told they will not reimburse me for their false pretenses and the whole bait and switch they pulled and I'm just out $150. I was informed that I could substitute teach in ****** but I don't live in ******, and frankly, I really don't want to do any substitute teaching in ******. I'm disgusted with this companies practices and that I'm out money while still unemployed. I spent SO much time completing their requirements. Can you do anything about this?
