I signed a $42,000 contract with Ameritech Construction on April 27, 2024, to replace the windows at my home in *********, **. The project has been plagued by delays, miscommunication, product issues, and unprofessional behavior. The contract promised installation within ***** days. As of April 2025, the project was still incomplete. Installation only began on April 16, 2025 nearly a year later. The next day, it was discovered that three windows were missing, including a 70"x70" family room picture window that had been discussed at length with multiple team members. I was given contradictory reasons from different employees including that the order was split without my knowledge, and that the window was not ************** window, a 70"x11" transom, arrived as glass only. I was never told this meant it would be installed without a frame. The original frame is warped and discolored, and a frameless install would not match the rest of the windows. This was not clearly explained at the time of sale, and I would not have agreed to it.On top of that, a manager called me, yelled at me, and hung up when I tried to discuss my concerns. I have dealt with multiple people from the company including ****** *****, ***** *****, and ***** ***** and have received inconsistent answers at every turn.I was also billed $56.67 by ******** on January 12, 2025, despite being told financing would not begin until installation was complete. At that point, no work had been done.I have documentation of every step, including emails, contracts, and photos, and would be happy to provide them upon request.Business Response

I would disagree with every statement by this customer other than job has been delayed. The two reasons the order has been delayed were because one of the windows she ordered was too big too be made, we finally convinced the factory to make it anyway and it unfortunately takes a very long time to be manufactured. The other reason is that she added a couple more windows about 5 months after she placed her original order. She never had our *** measure them, price them out, or include them on her order. We were happy to add them but please don't blame us for your oversight. As far as her incorrect claims about her financing, she needed us to waive most of her down payment and set up special terms to do so, this was explained in great detail to her and she received several emails from the bank and signed finance paperwork, I believe at least twice possibly more. We have also had to endure a barrage of nasty phone calls with threats and ultimatums. The last few windows are due to be installed this week. This woman has basically terrorized us for months. Unfortunately we all have customers like this and would have been much better off not even accepting this job had we known what type of person we were dealing with.

I appreciate the opportunity to respond. While I am relieved that the final windows have now been installed, I must respectfully address several inaccuracies in Ameritechs response and reiterate my primary concern: the companys ongoing failure to communicate transparently and take accountability.
1. Timeline of Additional Windows
Ameritech claims I added two windows five months after my original order. This is categorically false. These windows were discussed with the sales representative in April and measured again in May. No additional changes were made in November. The issue was that Ameritech failed to include them on the original ordernot that I added them later. This was entirely their oversight.2. Communication and Misinformation
My greatest frustration throughout this process has been the lack of honest, timely communication. For example, in November I was told that my windows were on the truck, when in reality they had not even shipped. In fact, one window had not even been manufactured, and I was not informed until January that Ameritech would not be honoring the warranty on it. Had someone simply told me the truth and acknowledged the delay, I would have been disappointedbut understanding. Instead, I was repeatedly misled.3. Down Payment Misrepresentation
Ameritechs statement about waiving a required down payment is also incorrect. I was never informed that a 10% down payment was required. The sales representative asked what I wanted to put down; I responded by asking what was required, and we mutually agreed on $500. If I had known a minimum amount was necessary, I would have paid it upfront. I acknowledge that I signed financing documents based on what I was toldmy mistake for not reviewing them more thoroughlyand I take full responsibility for that. Once I understood the nature of the financing, I promptly paid the down payment portion directly to the finance company.4. Harassment Allegations
I find it deeply unprofessional and inappropriate for the business to describe me as someone who terrorized them. As a customer who has endured months of delays, misinformation, and broken commitments, I believe I had every right to advocate for myself and seek clarity. I have never been abusive, and I strongly reject this characterization. On the contrary, I have received threatening communications from Ameritech referencing potential legal actioncommunications that only escalated the stress of an already difficult situation. Conclusion and Recommendation
Although the installation is now complete and I am willing to consider this matter closed, I remain extremely disappointed by how the process was handled. My hope is that Ameritech will take this experience as an opportunity to improve its customer service, particularly in the areas of communication, accountability, and professionalism.Initial Complaint

Last I had replacement windows installed at my house. Three of these widows have gone out of alignment.Ameritech says the repair is covered under warranty, but I have been waiting for two months, and they are refusing to give me a repair date. They have now stopped returning my callsBusiness Response

I don't understand this complaint. It hasn't been two months, it is under warranty, we ordered parts, we are scheduled to do repair on August 25th.
Sorry you are having an issue but clearly we are on top of it.

The contract they gave us had zero details on it. We were told they were replacing facia, doing gutters, soffits, and siding. Showed us pictures with big trim around the windows, and talked us into going with them based on using a superior product. They came in nearly 20 thousand dollars over the asking price of anyone else. They told us that they do not use vinyl siding, they use a cladding system. Later we discovered cladding is insulated vinyl. As soon as I saw the windows I told them it wasn't right and they said the job was not done and to wait. The crew also buried live electrical wires in 2 different spots, which i had to fix. Now the job is supposedly done and the windows still are not correct and I am being accused of trying to not pay. I have received nasty messages from them when I have been trying to get this problem addressed for weeks, and they fall back on a contract that has zero detail in it saying it is not in the contract. We feel like we have been mislead and tricked into signing a contract with them.Business Response
Date: 08/26/2024
Job was completed in the time frame we promised and specified on very detailed contract. It is not vinyl siding as you claim, it is a fiberglass composite just as we showed you. We didn't want to cut any wires and told you we had an electrician that should be called. You insisted we cut them and then had issues with it. We didn't promise you or show you any 4" trim around window. You personally said the job came out fantastic, we agree, not good, not nice, it came out fantastic! Then we had a real difficult time having you sign the completion certificate from the bank which was troubling because it was quite difficult getting it approved and was about to expire, we were getting tired of your delay tactics. You were shopping for siding for at least 12 years that we know about, I think you may have regretted doing it because of the overall cost after it was started but before we finished. That's ok, no hard feelings. Another job well done by Ameritech. We'll be here if you need us.

Ameritech has chosen to take me to court instead of entering into arbitration through the BBB as they have agreed to by virtue of being an accredited member of BBB. I entered into an insulated radiant barrier contract that covered the 1540 sq ft footprint of my house. It was to be installed in my attic in 2-4 days, between February 12, 2024 & August 12, 2024. I was asked to speak with the crew boss for the job, & he arrived hours before his scheduled time, two days before the installation period. He brought a crew with him, who entered the attic space. The crew boss checked out the attic and after he and my son looked at the vaulted family room, I was told by the crew boss that he would not be installing the barrier in the crawl space over the vaulted family room after all. Since we were talking about omitting over 600 sq ft, I asked for him to call his office & get a Change Order/new contract with the price adjustment. The crew commenced installation prior to my contract window, and without permission. I could not sign off that the job was complete, as it didnt satisfy the contract. Talk with the owners resulted in no new contract or data-based negotiation. No one has come to inspect or measure work.Business Response

Customer had job installed per terms of contract. Contract was for 1540 sq ft, turned out only 1500 sq ft was needed. We made price adjustment for the 40 extra feet. Installer explained job to them multiple times and was willing to go back into attic with customer to go over installation yet again. Customer decided to ignore all communications and still owes us over $8000. We had no option but to hire attorney. What's worse is we did work previously for this customer, so you would think that relationship would mean something. I guess they think they are entitled to a free home improvement. In addition, the financing expired now that job was installed over 7 months ago. Unfortunately we all have customers like these.Initial Complaint

In 2022, I reached out to Ameritech for a siding job. Early last year I realized I had heard exactly nothing from regarding my order. FIVE MONTHS after the paperwork was signed, I got an installer.Siding installed, & immediate issues. I was very clear that the siding did not look right & asked installer multiple times if he tore the stucco down. I was ensured that would happen as part of the install. He admitted that he did not, but that it was "okay, we never pull down the stucco". I told him what the original salesperson told me but I was made to feel like everything was fine & that I didn't know construction. I felt very pressured into signing the "all okay" form, but did it anyway. In July of last year, I noticed parts of the siding becoming unattached from the house. I reached out and got in touch with the same salesperson from earlier. He assured me he would make it right and put me in touch with the original installer. It was painful getting him to the house, but he AGAIN assured me it had nothing to do with the stucco but was a bad install job by his partner (despite the fact that this guy, not the partner, did more than half the work). He pulled all the siding down from one side of the house, and half on the other side, and rehung it. I told him it did not look right, it was not lying flat & was wavy. I pressured him again as to why the stucco was not pulled down as there is NO stable platform to attach the siding to. Once again, I felt very pressured to sign the all okay form, I signed the form, much to my regret, & here we are again. Six months later and the siding is FALLING OFF THE HOUSE! I reached out to the sales guy. He reached out a week ago, made an appointment to come to the house last Friday & then cancelled, said he would be out this week. I have heard NOTHING. This has been a horrific experience since the day I signed the paperwork and I do not understand why I cannot find anyone with the company that cares to make it right.Business Response

Sorry you are having problems with your siding, especially as a multiple time previous customer that has come to expect only the best from Ameritech.
I looked into it and we reached out to you multiple times to get someone to come look at it and it looks like that has already been scheduled with you for this week.
Glad to know the issue will be resolved, I'm sure we'll make it right, glad the windows are performing well.
The siding was about $14,000, not sure why you said it was $25,000. We also found completion certificates where you gave us excellent reviews twice.
Claiming we ignored you, and then filing complaints while we are actively pursuing a remedy for you is puzzling and troubling, at best.

I did respond to this but it hasn't posted yet, did you receive it?
We have been out to house previously and rescheduled to be there today (Tuesday). Installer had to reschedule this from last week. Not sure why she filed complaint when we have been in contact with her and are actively trying to fix this. I also believe she kept calling the installer directly rather than our service line, that installer know longer works for us and I doubt he would be returning any of her calls.

Hello, I wanted to provide current status:
A general contractor from the company came out today and let me know that the original bid should have included a full removal of the stucco. The fact that this was not done is the cause of the bowing and other issues with the siding. I did let him know that the salesperson assured me the stucco was going to be removed and how was I to know/understand that needed to be in the bid and priced out. So from that perspective, frustrating. Regardless, the company has agreed to pull down the siding, remove all the stucco, use plywood and a moisture barrier, and THEN rehang the stucco, for zero cost. Which is a good/best solution and what I wanted in the first place. Unsure if you need to hear back from the company but wanted to let you know they are making a good effort to take care of the issue. The contractor is scheduled for April 24/25 to come out to start the work. Thank you very much.

I signed two contracts with the business on 3/10/23 and 4/19/23. I expressly stated at the outset that only triple pane windows and doors were to be installed. I wanted to update my existing triple pane windows with better technology. Only after installation of the first contract did I find out that they installed double pane. On 5/29/23, I cancelled the next contract for their failure to observe that contract's completion date of 4/19/23. The owner called me screaming into the phone that I couldn't do that. All paperwork was via an electronic signature device and no copies of any documents were presented to me until after my signature was affixed electronically. I trusted them as being an honest business, and found out they are not trustworthy. I would like for the $10,528 deposit paid for the second contract be refunded. I am a retired 80 year old ************ Examiner and my timeline addressing this matter is due to ongoing health issues.I don't have the capacity to upload documents. Give me an address and I will send physical copies regarding this matter. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.Business Response

We go by facts.
Facts:
Contract 1-Customer ordered two 8' patio doors on March 10th, 2023, he was told MULTIPLE times because of the fact they were 8' wide, they could not be made in triple pane for a variety of reasons including they would be too heavy to operate, maybe even more so for senior citizens as my dad is about this customer's same age and has issues with his only 6' wide and only double pane builder's grade patio door making it hard for him to operate.MORE SO, IT IS CLEARLY INDICATED THAT THESE DOORS COULD ONLY BE MADE IN DOUBLE PANE AT THE VERY TOP OF THE CONTRACT! Customer was also automatically emailed a copy of his contract when he signed it to the email address he provided. When the doors were complete he said his sales rep, the installation team and Ameritech overall were excellent. He even wrote on the completion certificate that this was an excellent experience for him. Of course, the check he gave for the balance due did not clear the bank and we didn't get paid in full for this job until over a month later.
Contract 2-This time customer ordered ********************** for his home. Customer ordered all the remaining ********************** April 19th, 2023, in TRIPLE pane. He called office several days later just confirming that these would be TRIPLE PANE, unlike his doors. He was told all would be TRIPLE PANE, just like it says in the contract!
Customer decided to not return any of the numerous phone calls, emails or text messages, regarding his order. This order was estimated to be completed as soon as this July, not April 19th as he claims. How could we manufacture and install his custom windows the day he ordered them. Is this really his defense this time that warranted a complaint to the BBB? He finally calls back late May, over a month after he signed the contract and his legal right to cancel, saying he wants to cancel and wants his down payment back.
We did a fantastic job with his patio doors and are prepared to do a fantastic job with his windows. He's just spun himself a web of incorrect facts and outright lies in this ever-changing version of his story. Of course, we're sorry to hear of his ongoing health issues, if true. The way he has treated us and his outright misrepresentations are shameful. No he can't have a refund, he is in breach of a contract he signed and now owes us liquidated damages if he doesnt let us perform contract to completion. We have done nothing wrong and everything right by this customer.
If he is so set on getting triple pane windows, which is what we have for him, why not let us complete contract? Why would customer mail in a new check for his bounced check about a month after he "discovered" his patio doors were only double pane if he were so outraged? He wouldnt have!Initial Complaint

if you are military, a veteran or a senior citizen, I highly suggest you do not use this company. If you do use them, do not pay them until everything is done to your satisfaction. I had a whole house window installation done and they left footprints on the floor and refused to wash the windows. I had two doors installed and they left the trim in shambles and cracked the stucco yo my house. The installer told me he had never installed these type of doors before so it was evident when he left. They installed the wrong door in my living room and it took them 6 months to get another door that still isn't right and now they just ignore me. Their best installer botched the installation of the doors and I have nail holes in the trim and the door looks like an amateur did it. I wrote a letter to their president and he decided to ignore me along with his sales manager, so I guess birds of a feather flock together. This company has no integrity, no idea of how to keep a customer satisfied and customer service is non existent. When I complained about their actions they threatened me with legal action and a void warranty.. I don't know why the BBB gives them an A+ rating but they must of have bribed somebody. They also yelled at my wife, who is also a senior, because she accused them of bait and switch, which is exactly what they did, I had an attorney send them a letter demanding they replace the door I did not ask for and do not want, but they continue to ignore the problem.Customer Answer

Although I have several other complaints about this company, my main concern is the door they installed in my living room is not what I ordered nor is something I want. It actually looks like two doors screwed together. The installer left the trim dirty, full of nail holes and it does not fit at the corners. If you desire I can send pictures of what I wanted and what I got. I had another construction company give me an estimate of the type odf door I wanted with installation costs and that figure came to $6400. I had my lawyer type a letter for Ameritech windows which demanded this amount of money. It was sent to their sales manager. I got no response from Ameritech, after 30 days, so my lawyer told me to sens the same letter again, only this time it was sent to the President of the company. I still got no response. this is the second time they have installed a door I did not want and it took them 6 months to come up with the door that is currently installed in my living room. I just want to be able to replace the eyesore they installed I do not want any of their installers working on my house as they have damaged it enough already. They have threatened me with legal action and the voiding of my warranty. if I do anything to the detrimate of their company and I have noticed in other BBB complaints that they follow the same practices. ****** and Yelp have a multitude of complaints against them and their response is generally some lame excuse. I am prepared to go to small claims court, but my attorney has told me that even if I win that it may be a long drawn out process to get them to pay. This company has breached their contract so many times that it isn't worth the paper it is written on. Here's the list:
1. Failed to clean the newly installed windows.
2, said it would take 2 days for window installation, it took 10 because they only sent out 1 man to do 15 windows.
3. Claimed their installers have 20 yrs or more experience, the installer that installed the doors said he had never installed the types of doors I have.
4. The installer botched the installation of both doors and the company had to have their lead installeer come out to fix it, that took a week.
5. Installed the wrong door in my living room, took 6 months to get the two doors screwed together that they thought I would buy off on, and the trim and fit on both doors looks like amateurs did it.
6. Threatened me when I complained to the BBB and yelled at my wife because she accused them of bait and switch, which is exactly what they did.
&. Generally, took advantage of a disabled veteran and 2 senior citizens.

On your first order with us, we installed windows for you and when the job was complete you rated our our salesperson, our installer and the company overall, a 5 out of 5 and said everything was excellent.
On your second order, which was for doors, we specifically and intentionally sent back the same installer that you had said did an excellent job. Apparently, the set of T8 doors you ordered was not hinged the way you indicated.
Our installer had already removed the existing doors and they couldn't be reinstalled, so we installed the new doors that were hinged incorrectly. I was out of town while this happened and upon my return, we immediately ordered the correct materials to correct this mistake.
The new doors and parts took a while to get, as there were supply chain issues at that time that have thankfully all been resolved. We sent our expert installation manager/ entry door installer to complete the job as per the terms of the contract.
He handled all your concerns and you signed off that the job was complete. We're truly sorry for the mixup with the incorrect hinging and we've apologized several times. I'm sorry now you don't like the doors. However, you got exactly what you ordered per the terms of the contract.
No you can't have a refund.

I am rejecting this response because: Ameritech claims that after an installation, my property would be cleaner and better looking than before the installer got here. He left footprints on my floor and dod not wash the windows. When I asked him about cleaning the windows, his statement was "I don't wash windows, the company will send someone out".Your website claims that all of your installers are very experienced, but the installer told me "I have never installed these kind of doors". When I complained to the installer that the sliding glass door was hard to shut, his reponse was "It has to work itself in"' The door started falling apart two weeks later and the sales manageer and lead installer kept arguing about when they would repair it. I got mad and asked them what was wrong with them, I couldn't use the door and it still took a week to get it fixed.
You installed the wrong door twice in my living room, the door that is there now is nothing like what I showed your salesman and lead installer that I wanted. I can provide photos of the door I requested and the two doors screwed together that they gave me. The refund I want is to acquire the door I want, fix the damage your "lead" installer did to my house, fix the damage to the door trim both inside and outside on both doors and to clean the glass. When I askd the sales manager about repairing the trim, he stated, "We don't paint". Well, neither do I, so you can pay someone to do it. Ameritech also did not include a screen on the door, which I was adamant abouy nd instead waned me to pay for a storm door which was not what i wanted. The other thing that is not addressed in your response is the fact that the sales manager threatened me, yelled at my wife for accusing the company of bait and switch, which is exactly what they did. The sales manager also told me that I needed to pay for the doors so they could do warranty work to replace the first door that was installed and get the right one. That waas nothing but a ploy to get me to pay because they knew they couldn't deliver.
If I can get the junk you sou installed removed and the correct door installed for $6400, that also means Ameritech ripped me off for $3600. Not only that, window installation was supposed to be 2 days, not the 10 it took one installer. This whole project has been one nightmare that a disabled vet and senior citizen should not have to endure. The only one ever inconvenienced and aggravated was me. Ameritech wants to play with what they say I signed, well I don't have a copy, so anyone could have changed whatever they say I rated them as. The contract was breached so many times by Ameritech that I would say it would best be used as toilet tissue. I am sorry, too, for I am an old soldier who is used to dealing with people with honor and integrity.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:Your salesman told me the windows would be cleaned and everything cleaned up after installation, The installer told me he doesn't wash windows. Nothing was cleaned up and the windows still haven't been washed. I was told it would take two days to install the windows, it took ten. The only one inconvenienced was me, as I had to wait every day for the installer to show up and do whatever amout of work he could handle.
The salesman told me competent and experienced installers would do the work. The same guy who did the windows installed the doors and did such a poor job you had to send your lead installer to fix it. In the mean time I couldn't go out my basement door for a week.
The salesman told me that I would not have to paint anything unless I wanted the door a different color
The wrong door got installed in my living room and I was told they would have the right door in 30 days, it took 6 months to get another wrong door.
My house got damaged, the door trim has nail holes and doesn't fit correctly, is damaged and dirty.
On top of that I found out I got overcharged for a door I do not want and your company is so busy stealing from people that they just ignore the obvious. This is a good example of bait and switch, and from reading some other reviews, it is common practice for your company.
If you complain about this company, they threaten you with legal action and voiding your warranty.
They talk about some paper I signed, I signed a paper saying their employee was here, but I did not inspect the work done. If you want me to inspect the work it will cost 35 dollara an hour, otherwise send out your own inspector.
Most honorable companies refund your money when they can't deliver what you want. The sales manager ignored the demands my lawyer sent so I sent a letter to the president of the company, who also chose to ignore it. Pathetic in my opinion, guess birds of a feather flock together.
The only other thing I would say is that I spent 38 years in service to this country, I held high level security clearances. I am a disabled veteran and my wife and I are both senior citizens. These guys are going to accuse us of lying and fairy tales. My deepest wish is that I could have a third party come to my house and see what they left. I am pretty sure that would clear up who is lying.
Sincerely,

Better Business Bureau:
I would like to reject the offer of Mediation for complaint ID ********.
I am also sick and tired of this incompetent company and its rude and abusive employees who have absolutely no professionalism.
The only liars and fairy tales are not from me. Anyone wanting to see the mess they left my house in is welcome to come see it in person, since I have kept in the consdtion they left it.
It is awfully convenient the salesman quit suddenly after doing my order, if he really did quit.
I was told my windows would be clean when they left, they were not cleaned nor did they make any attempt to clean them.
I was told competent installers would install my doors, they were anything but competent. I was told the only painting I would need to do would be if I wanted the doors a different color. They left the trim dirty damaged and full of nail holes.
I was told if they did any damage to my house, it would be repaired, the stucco is still broke and cracked.
The door that was installed is not what I ordered or wanted, it is some idea they dreamed up of s******* two doors together and hoping I would buy off on it.
The sales manager yelled at my wife, a 70 year old women because she accused them of exactly what they did.
The sales manager threatened me with negating the warranty and legal action if I did not withdraw my complaint to the BBB. I am a disabled veteran and senior citizen. You would think after spending $40K on their products they would at least leave me satidified with the work they did instead of feeling ripped off.
The $6400 I am asking for is to get the correct door installed and repair.what these clowns failed to do.
And if these people continue to call me and my wife a liar, I will be more than happy to start a defamation of character lawsuit against them which will far exceed the $6400 I am asking for
Or maybe a local television channel can come ask you what your problem is.
Regards,

Had Ameritech install a patio door. The weather stripping they installed above the patio door has warped. The products have a lifetime warranty. Been trying for a year, since August 2021 to have it replaced/repaired. Have gotten one excuse after the other. Covid, short of workers, etc. Have every email of the back and forth with them with no resolutionCustomer Answer
