I bought a bike from Durango Outdoor Exchange. I tried it out and it had a noisy squeak. Their bike guy tightened something. It continued to squeak. I took it back within minutes. The owner, Chase, claimed he had no obligation to fix or help with it because I had told him to stay off a trail that was under construction some months prior. He’s an angry, bitter man who probably shouldn’t be in business without supervision and his bike repair guy clearly didn’t recognize it was a hub issue. A different shop fixed it and I sold the bike to someone else to avoid the taint of this horrible shop and it’s owners. Good bike shops locally take responsibility for their products and ensure customer happiness. Instead I was harassed, threatened and told I could never shop there again. No problem there are a lot of good bike shops with excellent customer service and people who care deeply about the outdoors like myself. Biking should be enjoyable and fun not full of angry, delusional men who don’t know or care about the rules or manners of the trails or roads. Chase is easily one of the most vile humans I’ve met on the trails and believe both he and his shop should be banned from the trails and from races and other events.

You returned the bike 5 days after purchasing it, not minutes. It did not squeak when you bought it from the shop and regardless, it was not broken, it just made a sound. It is posted in 4 different locations, including the front door that all sales are final on used gear. We cannot make acceptations to that policy because you changed your mind about liking the ***********, it was not a faulty bike. You were making customers and staff feel threatened and ***** had no choice but to protect our business and ask you to leave. I know that you have been asked to leave several other stores in our community and it is unfortunate you continue this behavior. In addition, we will continue to safely use the bike trails and if you harass our family again we will contact the police.
