I went to The Joint Chiropractic **************************************************************************************** for a one time adjustment on a reference from an co worker and was coerced into purchasing a membership that I did not want and had no intention of signing up for. I knew I would not use the service regularly enough to warrant a membership and made that clear from the beginning of my visit. The person working the front desk assured me I could easily cancel any time and that was not at all the case. After 2 months of membership and only 2 visits (membership allows 1 visit per week) to the clinic, I called in to cancel exactly 2 days as instructed before my billing cycle and was informed that it would have to be done in person. This left no time to go in and cancel. I explained that I live an hour away, work two jobs, literally have no time to stop in and wouldnt have signed up if I knew I would have to handle the cancellation in that manner. No other option was offered. This does not constitute an easy cancellation as I was told it would be on my first visit and sign up. In the ***************** a verbal agreement between two parties is considered contractual and I will hold the joint to that verbal contract regardless of the lengthy and confusing paperwork they hide their wordy policies in. I was unlawfully and deceitfully coerced into a service that I made clear was unwanted. The contract was signed under duress and and the misrepresentation of their cancellation policy is a breach of the contract. This misrepresented sales pitch clearly violates my consumer protection rights and is in serious misalignment with Better Business Practices. I would prefer to resolve this here, quietly and amicable rather than leave horrible reviews and protest their business for years to come.
