My wife purchased gift certificates for our (3) children for Christmas to Stir Cooking School cooking class. My children scheduled the classes last week they wanted to take and then received a cancellation email this week for those classes. Now, when you go to the Stir Cooking School website it says you can purchase the Domain via ***********. I called the number listed for the school several times and got a message saying that the "voicemail is full, and your message will not be saved". I would like a refund for the gift certificates we purchased, and my kids are not able to use.

    Hi *****!

I hope this email finds you well. I recently received information from the Better Business Bureau that you submitted a complaint with them regarding a refund for a set of gift cards earlier this year. I have attached our **************** Coordinator, *******, and the BBB Resolutions Lead, *******, who originally reached out to us so we can resolve this issue.

First off, I apologize that we had to cancel a class they had signed up for, could you provide the exact date so I could look into the reason for cancellation? I am also not seeing any record of your email purchasing gift cards, could it be under a different name/email address?

I think the main issue here is that you do not have the proper contact information for our business. I can see no record that you tried to contact our public facing email, ************************************* Also, our website is up and running and we have not experienced any recent outages. Are you going to ***********************************? Our voicemail *************) is monitored and cleared daily. Is this the number you had been calling?

While we are more than happy to refund a canceled class, it is our policy that gift cards are non-refundable as they can be used for future classes. This is posted on our website in our gift card section, see below.

Whitney - You also seem to have the incorrect owner contact information. I can be the point of contact with the BBB, my information is in my email signature.

Please let me know how we can help and if you would like to discuss further.

    Cheers,

    Mr. ******,

I submitted the complaint to the BBB because of the cancelled scheduled classes for two of the gift certificate recipients.  I understand there are circumstances that require scheduled events to be cancelled however, when our daughters received notice (see attached) it implied that they cancelled the class which led to confusion.  The email states "Your cooking class has been successfully cancelled."  They did not cancel the class.  When they went on your website *********************************** (Jan 13th and 14th) the site was down for two days with a message from *********** that the domain name was available for purchase.  Doing further research, I found a number to call Stir To Learn and the phone rang and rang w/ no option to leave a voicemail.

My daughters signed up for the Sunday, February 9, 2025, 5:00pm cooking class.  ***** ****** (Cc'd on this email) purchased the Gift Certificates for *** ******, ***** ******, and ******* ******** as a Christmas gift.  Given the situation of the cancelled classes w/ no explanation, the website coming up w/ *********** and the domain name advertised for sale, and the inability to contact anyone with Stir Cooking School we purchased gift certificates to another cooking school for our kids.  My wife and I felt very bad that we gave our daughters a gift to a business that appeared to be longer in business.  I think that given Ms. ******* from the BBB also wasn't able to contact the business it's demonstrates some significant issues at Stir To Learn.

I understand that your FAQ states that gift certificates are Final and Non-Refundable, however, I would like to get a refund for the certificates we purchased.  Following the class cancellation w/out reason and inability to contact anyone (myself, the gift recipients, and the BBB) w/ Stir To Learn, I believe this is reasonable.  Honestly, at this point I have concerns about my daughters going to your establishment.

    Regards,

    ***** ******

    Hi again *****,

I did some digging and below is an email I sent to *** on 1/9 as her email was attached to the reservation. I offered a refund or transfer, but did not get a response back. I believe that a month's notice of a class cancellation and offer for a refund is an appropriate response to our internal mistake.

I am happy to honor the refund or reschedule your daughters to a class. I am still at a loss as to the website you were viewing and the phone number you were using as both are an integral part of our business and I find it odd that we would not notice if both were down.

As far as "significant issues at Stir" the contact information that ******* had is the previous owner's information as the business just officially changed hands in 2025.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

    Mr. ******,

    ***** received a similar email to the email that was sent to Zoe.  ***** replied to the cancellation, and she requested a refund.  She received a response that a refund could not be made.  (see attached email).  The site I was looking at was the Stir To Learn *******************************************************;

I would appreciate a refund of the 3 gift certificates that ***** purchased so we all can move past this.  I hope only success for you and your business.  Clearly this was not meant to be for my daughters.  I appreciate your time.

    Regards,
