I engaged with Holy Ground Tiny Homes over several months and decided to go with them to build an 8x12 shed in my back yard. ****** was coordinating the estimate Feb 26, 2024 and provided an estimate of $5500. I requested someone come look at the site in person to confirm the estimate and that thered be no surprise charges. ****** said shed send **** out as a representative of their company. **** came out and confirmed the price of $5800 + $250 for small shed A/C and after paying a deposit began the work. While doing the work **** (aka *******) offered to modify and move a bench into the shed, fix my fence and cover a hole for an additional $300. We agreed and he completed the bench move and hole repair but said he needed to buy materials for the fence repair and that hed return the following week to complete the work, but that he needed to be paid due to the majority of the work being completed and needing to buy the materials. He was paid $5800 for shed, $250 A/C, $300 fence/bench/hole and $150 tip) and never returned to complete the fence repair he was paid for. I contacted ****** and she then changed the story saying he didnt represent her company and they werent responsible (which was never communicated as you can see from screenshot of the chats). **** stopped returning my phone calls and lied to ****** about the fence claiming he only agreed to the bench move (see texts with **** referring to the fence). I let them know that I would be filing this complaint for misrepresentation/denial of responsibility saying no association with the person they sent, taking money for work not completed and asking that $150 portion for fence money be refunded as a separate contractor has since had to be hired to complete the job and $150 tip as not earned (aka $300 total refund).Initial Complaint

14 months ago I paid a deposit of 50% of the cost of a tiny home and began making monthly payments spread over 24 months to pay-off the rest. This tiny home builder in ******** claimed they could complete the project within 9 months over the phone, but their contract language and emails were much more vague. In April they had not made any progress on my home so we reached an agreement over email that I would pause making monthly payments until my home was ready to be built. They framed the delay as a supply chain issue. Their refund policy is that they build the home you ordered, sell it to another buyer, and then refund your money from the sale. After six more months passed I requested a refund and was told it would be at least 24 months before they would build and sell the home I ordered. Cut to this week and the company has officially filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I paid them ~$18,000. There are roughly 60 people who share my position and many of them have likely paid more than I since I was purchasing one of their smallest floor plans.Business Response

On January 5 2022 we sent ***** dollars via wire transfer to Holy Ground ************ We were assured our home would go into production in September 2022, but with hopes it might be sooner, as soon as June 2022. In July 2022 we were informed our home would be delayed until August 2023. This was not what we agreed to and asked for a refund. They said our home could be moved up until March 2023, and no refund could be given until the home was built and sold. We asked if we could simply receive the trailer portion of our tiny home in exchange for our down-payment (we even offered to pay the difference) and were refused, as it was outside their normal line of business. In September 2022 we were told a refund could not be given until December 2023. We would simply like our money back, or a tiny home trailer. Communication has been difficult, the business has been dodgy. We have been told our money is unavailable because it has been spent, and they continue to open side businesses (a tiny home village, sub shop franchises). We just want our money back, as they delayed our home by a year, and they seem unwilling to cooperate and make that happen.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I still have not heard back from them outside of the BBB and their response times have been abysmal to begin with. I would like a refund or my trailer as soon as possible - I have been patient and more than fair, but I cannot keep waiting as they keep holding my money (or, has spent my money on someone else's home, which is not how business should be done). We are willing to pay the difference for the trailer if they can show us a receipt for the cost of the trailer. We are going to be homeless because of their lies and bad communication, we just need our money back or a trailer to show for it, or proof that our tiny home will be constructed immediately.
Sincerely,

On May 29th 2022, we wired Holy Ground Real Estate(Tiny Homes) $13,700 as a deposit for our home that was estimated to be finished by December. After the transaction, we were supposed to sign the final contract with dates, full costs, home layout, amenities etc, and we were told by the salesman that he would go through it with us, but this never happened we were only sent an invoice and we DID NOT sign a contract. A month went by with complete silence about getting a formalized contract and upon reaching out again we were told to contact the customer care person, because our home was "nowhere even close to being started" so we did. Jun 21st we reached out to two different customer support team members and were told to call back. We Continued contacting and failing to reach anyone, Contacts are as follows emails Jun 27th, Jun 30th, Jul 17th, Jul 24th, Aug 2nd. I finally was able to request a refund over the phone with a staff member to be told that she would get back with me, which she never did. I finally emailed the *** about my concerns on Aug 9th and am awaiting a reply. I need to get my investment back soon as this delay in build time has cost my family to not have a place to put our house once it is finished. We have strict zoning laws and can only put tiny homes in specific areas and there are very few options. We need our money back as we never signed a contract then got the silent treatment after we sent them a large sum of money. We were informed in the process of this that the company was having trouble finishing ordered from 2021 due to rising building costs. This makes sense and we understand but at no time during our proposal process were we informed of any of these potential obstacles which were obviously well known to the company at the time. I was lied to, and this business continued to take build orders and give false timelines knowing they would not meet them.Business Response

My son and I purchased 2 tiny homes 16 months ago for $67000. We were told they would be done in July, then October, and kept getting promises each month. Then in January *************************************************************** 2 weeks. We havent heard anymore from them and have tried calling and emailing. We are homeless, living in ******** and we need our tiny homes before winter. Im 70 and homeless. Maybe an organization that claims to build tiny homes for the homeless should build mine thats paid for especially now Im homeless.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
This is beyond unacceptable. ******** Contractors Law, Section ********* clearly states that the practices that is happening with this organization are in clear violation of a Class 3 Felony. This law was adopted in **** to prevent ***** schemes and from contractors robbing *****, to pay ****. Furthermore, since my original complaint, I never once received communication from them, only instead to see the vague business response on the BBB site. Im 70, homeless, and am tired of waiting for now what is going on 17 months. I dont want my money back. I want mine and my sons tiny homes to be built, as agreed upon by the contract, for the amount we have already paid. I think assuring two homeless people have their tiny homes will be built before winter is not too much to ask at all. I WILL receive both tiny homes before December, or my attorney will see to it that they not only get built, but that charges are pressed against ****. So Holy Ground, how about you actually deliver what was promised, as opposed to telling us how our money is going towards other projects? Especially since that is illegal! Your move! Make it right!
Sincerely,
****** EdgeBusiness Response

The only way we can reduce wait times is to increase our production capabilities. I am rejecting this response because:Surprise, surprise, no phone call. Promised a week ago that I would receive a phone call today after their meeting on Tuesday. I am assuming that not only do they not intend on calling me, but that there probably wasnt even a meeting. Im tired of the lies, false promises, no communication, and above all else, his incompetence as a business owner. Your financial problems are not my concern, nor my problem. You have mine and my sons money for over 17 months now! Finish my tiny homes now! Im not going to continue to repeat that we are homeless to you! I dont want a refund! I want both tiny homes, built, delivered, and completed as stated per the contract, before December! I would suggest you quit making videos to drum up new business, and focus on your existing customers now! Times a ticking. Make this right, or else my attorney and the police, will be knocking on your door to take you to jail, and impound your bat mobile. Do you really want another felony on your resume?
Sincerely,
****** Edge
