I originally signed up to train to become a valet/manager in the pro wrestling business, immediately after signing up within the first week it was clear that not only that they were discriminating against me for my disability having *** **** insisted to teach me to be a referee when I physically was uncapable of doing it. 3 months into my time at the training school, they finally allowed me to to start training to be a ring announcer but that being said I never got any sort of formal training, they have no syllabus for training ring announcers so I spent the rest of my time watching other students train while receiving no training and anytime they tried to have me attempt ring announcing they only help they offered was telling me and I quote "that I suck" and offered no tips, training, advice or help to get me to where my goals were to learn how to do what I want to do for their company. On top of all that, the coaches have a toxic culture of bullying, sexual harassment towards women and hazing new trainees. I want a full refund for my time wasted at the Al Snow Wrestling academy because they failed to train or teach me anything.

    Business Response

At Rocky Mountain Pro we are upfront and transparent with our prospective students about what is expected and what they should look forward to when joining our Professional Wrestling Academy and Promotion. This case was no different, and this student was briefed on what was expected before the tryout process, as well as after the tryout before any contract and commitment was made to join the school. She was given all the information, and attended several events and training sessions, with a complete understanding of the expectations of referee and managing students (who fall under character students). Before making her full payment for 6 months of training, the student was briefed again on what was required to train with Rocky Mountain Pro, and was even cautioned multiple times that this may not be the right fit for her. She insisted on signing up for the school and being given the opportunity, stating that she understood what was required, and sought to train as both a referee and character student.

Her limitations physically were addressed, and she was not required to do physical activities that she was unable to. After several weeks of referees from our promotion and school coaching her, she decided she wanted to instead focus on being a manager. After a few weeks of deciding to focus on becoming a manager, she decided she wanted to train instead to become a ring announcer. At that time, she was instructed to work with our 2 current ring announcers, who both had went through the training routine and instructed her on how to be a ring announcer. During character portions of training she was given opportunities to work on ring announcing in front of other students, receiving feedback from both coaches and senior students of the school.

Our program is 6 months. At 4 months, the student approached the owner and president of Rocky Mountain Pro to state she was ready to ring announce on events. She was then instructed that she was not ready, but would begin receiving repetition opportunities in the coming weeks and on all upcoming live events as Rocky Mountain Pro entered the busier house show season.

An opportunity was to be presented to the student at a television taping 2 weeks after the meeting about readiness to ring announce, but she did not attend the event or any training leading up to it. Several days later we received this complaint. As of the date of this complaint, the student still had 2 months left of training, and outside of the one occurance of stating she felt she was ready, had not brought any concerns about coaches or the school as a whole to anyone on the leadership team of Rocky Mountain Pro.

The accusations of toxic coaches, bullying, harassing of new students, and sexual harrassment of students are false. We have worked for over 14 years to provide an environment centered on teamwork, hard work, dedication to Professional Wrestling and the entirety of the team, and no tolerance for hazing or sexual harrassment.

We will not be offering a refund, as this student did not complete her term and was given every chance to succeed, with coaching from several of our staff and experienced students in what to do and how to do it.
