I reached out to King Electric for a quote to install 4 outlets on two circuits for a kitchenette in my basement. I explained to ****, the technician who came out, that I needed the outlets for tenants who would need to use some countertop appliances from time to time, but not heavy usage. He explained that to recess the outlets into the wall I would need to be okay with them cutting out a large piece of drywall. I said that I didn't want to have an additional thing to repair and was okay with external electrical as long as we made it as discreet as possible. I pointed to some wiremold already installed in the area and told him I wanted that in between the recepticles. He knew that I list my place online and need it to look good in pictures. Before he left I asked if he had any questions or concerns and he said no because it was a straightforward job. I assumed he understood my vision so when I got the quote, which was light in detail, I assumed that they would be doing a residential installation. At no point did I expect they would use commercial materials.I was not able to be present for the installation, so I only saw it once it was complete. Instead of smaller, discreet white recepticles mounted to the wall, I was greeted with metal recepticles far too large for the space and metal conduit that doesn't run flush to the wall. The opposite of what I asked for. I asked the reason for a commercial install and they couldn't give me a valid reason which makes me feel they took advantage just to overcharge. Instead, they double downed on forcing me to pay for equipment that is inappropriate for the location. I believe this to be the inexperience of the tech. I am requesting one of the following: - Refund the $370 I have already paid, remove the electrical work that was installed, and waive the balance - Replace the commercial electrical with residential and charge a rate that is non-retaliatory while waiving the commercial installation fees already accrued.
