For anyone in need of a wheelchair accessible home, I highly recommend shopping elsewhere for doorways. My home was built ADA ********** My original door had a zero-threshold entry. During the sales negotiation the presence of a wheelchair in my home was discussed numerous times and measurements were taken of the original entry. The new door has a 1-inch threshold, inside and outside. While I failed to mention that I required a zero-threshold entry, there was never any mention on the part of Allguard of a change in threshold. Nor was this mentioned on spec sheets that were provided before the installation. When I questioned this threshold, I was informed that I had been provided the spec sheet iin advance and that changes should have been indicated earlier. I rechecked the spec sheet and found no reference to a threshold. I asked Allguard to show me on the spec where it lists the threshold. I was told that the threshold is not indicated on the spec sheet. The only solution offered by Allguard was that I purchase two threshold ramps for the door, at $50 each. I admit that I may be at partially at fault for assuming that the new door would fit the same way as the original door, and for not specifically stating that I required the zero-threshold entry. However, the salesperson knew that a wheelchair used the entry and could have mentioned the change in threshold at any point, or listed a change in threshold on the spec sheet. Also my door will not lock. I use an electronic deadbolt has Bluetooth allowing the use of a cell phone to lock and unlock the door for my wheelchair bound child. The electronic lock will no longer work without pressure being applied to the door from the inside, or the door handle being pulled from the outside. The pressure needed to enable the deadbolt is a lot and is challenging for my wheelchair bound child.I now have an entry that my wheelchair bound child cannot use without assistance.

*******, Thank you for your feedback as we are always looking for ways to improve. I would like to first start that we are sorry you are having these issues and we take our clients concerns seriously. In regards to the ADA ********* door, we do not specialize in handicap accessible entryways nor do we advertise as such. Looking back at your initial online request and all throughout the custom door building process, no mention of needing a zero entry doorway was ever conveyed to us. Your daughter in the wheelchair was never present at any of our appointments and no mention of needing a handicap accessible entryway was ever mentioned by you. From the time of our initial consultation in which the door was built side by side with you on our app to the time of measuring and ordering was 1 month. In that time numerous emails were exchanged with the specification sheets being sent to you and not one mention from you about needing an ADA ********* entry door. Your primary concern was a better looking door that had a vibrant color and that was properly installed as your current door was coming out of the frame. You also had asked if we do any remodeling work since you planned to make your rear entry the main entry point and would be adding a larger entryway there. As for us telling you to buy $50 ramps, we offered a few solutions and offered to pay for these adjustments. We apologize that you are having hardware issues, if these issues were occurring we are here to assist with anything we can. New higher quality doors do require a break in period due to having a tighter seal. We also discussed the pitfalls of Wi-Fi locks and using previous hardware on new entry doors. Reviewing your contract, it is clearly stated in the scope of work section that the homeowner is responsible for any installation of old hardware on new doors for this reason. We discussed several hardware options with our manufacturer to avoid such issues and you declined. We do value your business and feedback. If you feel the need to discuss this further please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we would be more than happy to discuss solutions with you. Thank you.
