Flooring installation completed by Alex M***, doing business under AWM Remodeling, on or about December 29, 2023, was done improperly. As shown in the pictures, the vinyl planks were cut too short and not installed properly. They have therefore shifted laterally, causing noticeable and alarming gaps between planks and between the planks and the wall in the bedroom. I discovered this problem on July 13, 2023, when an individual who had been residing in that address since April 2024 vacated the premises and sent me a walk-through video of the premises. Immediately the next day, on July 14, 2024, I notified AWM Remodeling of the issue both through a phone call and text message. I again reached out to AWM Remodeling via text message on July 21, 2024, with a request to inspect and fix the issue. Then on July 30, 2024, I sent a notice of claim to AWM Remodeling. AWM Remodeling has refused to fix the issue and calls it "not my problem."

    Business Response

    Date: 09/27/2024

The flooring has been installed for 8 months and Mr. ********* just is now complaining about it. The flooring he had me install was a) Vinyl flooring of low quality, b) installed in a high traffic area that was used heavily by renters, transients, etc., c) was not warrantied by me because Mr. ********* insisted on using cheap materials for the work that I did do for him. I have done other work at the condo that was fine and received no complaints. I am not going to repair his flooring for free since the above factors contributed to the way it is now.

    Customer Answer

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

No flooring fails after just 6 months.  Mr. Alex M*** is now calling the flooring “low quality,” but in previous communications he praised the same flooring as being “awesome.”  (I’ve attached a document describing the quality of the flooring. The flooring is high quality.)  Nor is the flooring on “high traffic area.”  It’s in the bedroom of a residential unit where at most 1-2 people live.

The pictures speak for themselves.  Mr. M*** did not install the flooring correctly, which is causing them to shift.  In particular, he did not cut the planks the correct length.  I’ve had other experts look at the pictures, and they all concur that Mr. M*** improperly installed the floor.  Mr. M*** is blaming it on every other factor but his craftmanship.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, the consumer must give a reason why they are rejecting the response. If the consumer does not provide a reason the complaint will be closed Answered]
