Lifepoint Physicians Services Central Office (LPSC) is sending medical bills to collections without following proper Montana Law, and ignoring all efforts on my part to remedy the situation. Specifically, the most recent incident occurred on March 26, 2024. I called to determine how to remove my bill from collections. I was told a supervisor would call me back between 24-72 hours. That never occurred.
Regarding the root of the problem, my family incurred medical bills when our son was born and admitted to the NICU at Community Hospital in Missoula on April 3, 2023. Bills went through insurance, then us. We have paid thousands thus far. But for whatever reason, the bills did not come to us consistently and one was sent to an old address on 5/22/23, then again on 6/26/23 (according to LPSC when I spoke with them on 3/22/24). Even with mail forwarding, the bills never reached us. LPSC never called us (as they admitted on that 3/22/24 call with me). No email was sent. Instead, they just sent the bill to collections. On January 30, 2024, I called the collections, made a formal dispute. They contacted LPSC same day to await an answer. No answer came. I finally called LPSC myself on 3/22/24 and they confirmed no action was taken. While the contested bill sat in collections, awaiting LPSC's answer, interest continued (and continues) to accrue. I have still not received any word, help, guidance from LPSC on how to remove all interest from the bill and take the bill back out of collections; a bill that was erroneously sent to collections contrary to how Montana Law allows medical bills to be sent to collections.
LPSC is operating in Montana without any legal guidance, which is not unusual, but willfully ignoring patients while interest accrues is financially harmful on many levels.
LPSC does say they record their calls with me. Ideally they will provide you with them all.

In July of 2023 I was charged by my former Physician for $71.20 by his office who stated that they didn’t accept my insurance. After discovering that they actually did accept my insurance his office then proceeded to bill my insurance and told me that I would have a credit for $71.20 instead of having it returned to my card. After obtaining a new physician I called and the office told me that they would issue a refund and had turned it over to another facility to process. The number she gave me was 844-261-8545. The recording states that it is Livepoint Physicians Billing Office and after entering prompt 3 for other and speaking to an individual I was informed that my refund would be issued by check within 4 to 6 weeks. ( This was in October of 2023). After 6 weeks I called and spoke to another individual and was told it would be an additional 4 to 6 weeks due to my refund had been put on hold. They refuse to give me another person or anyone in management to speak with and every time I call it is a different story with another person. I was told that the check was there but was waiting for a number for processing and then I was told it was put on hold for 30 days and they had accelerated this to the management team. The last conversation yesterday 3/7/24 stated that because it’s been on hold for so long that it’s now having issues being processed due to the market. Yes I was told due to the rise in the market they couldn’t refund my check. This place is not a legitimate business and I don’t even understand how physicians are allowed to use this company. It has to be a dumping ground to get out of having any resoonsibilities tied to them or their business. I know I’ll probably never see my refund and tried to call my Doctors office to tell them about this place they had sent my refund to and all they did was yell and tell me they are not responsible for my money and that is the only number to call. If physicians are doing this purposely, they need stopped. Thank you.

I received my explanation of benefits from my insurance company. While reading the explanation, I realized I was overcharged for a doctor's visit. I contacted the billing department on July 6, 2022. I requested a refund and was told it would take 21 days. I called after 21 days and was told it would be 45 days. I waited the additional days and then was told the 45 days was business days. Again, I waited and contacted the billing department and again and was told there was no response from the management team. I asked to speak to management and was told there was no response from management. I waited again and contacted the office today only to be told there was still no response from the management team and to wait another 45 days from the second escalation request to obtain a response. I ask for a corporates number to file a complaint and was told there was no one I could file a complaint with, I had to wait on a response from management. I told the representative I would file a complaint with the BBB and was again to wait on management who has not responded to any of the request for the refund of the overpayment.
