      We showed up during a rain storm for our 1pm beginner rafting trip with our three young children on 7/21/24. The policy says rain or shine, but when lightening started literally right overhead, the entire group ran inside to talk to the office staff about safety concerns. (Mountains plus river plus lightening equals dangerous!) The owner (***) showed up and incredibly started YELLING at the guests that they were going now or they werent going. He then had the audacity to tell us that they had never had someone struck before (?!?). Sorry - but Im not risking the lives of my three children so he can make a buck simply because he has been lucky in the past!! I asked if he would be willing to delay the trip until the storm passed and he flatly (still yelling) refused. I have never heard of someone running a business like this! Incredibly disappointing and unsafe behavior on the part of this company and incredibly rude of the owner to yell at the adults (and children) present.

      Safety is our #1 concern at all times for all our guests.  We are constantly watching radar at all times as storms in *************; come in fast and move out fast.  On July 21st, ***************************************************** a safety speech and they had come into the office screaming and yelling at the office staff, threatening the office staff that she is a lawyer and allowed her children to scream at the office staff that we stop all operations immediately!  Had they been civil to our office, the manager would have shown her the radar that the storm was passing, which is exactly happened.  By the time the rest of the group that went rafting was dressed and geared up, the rain had stopped and they did not see a drop of rain on the whole trip.  Some of their family did go rafting and had a great time and also did not have any rain on their trip.  We always try and accommodate our guests although when guests start screaming and swearing at the staff and threating the office staff  and allow their children to scream at the staff I do not feel obligated to work with them.  Had they came in and inquired calmly about the weather conditions they would have know that the storm would pass nor do we put our guest in danger in any weather situation.  The guest was so rude that other people from this trip who went rafting called me personally to tell me how well the office staff handled the situation and these guests would not lower their voices or stop swearing in front of children.  I have included pictures from the trip to show that there was not any rain through their trip or the rest of the day.  Safety is our only concern for our guests and staff as well!

      I am rejecting this response because: their characterization of the events is patently false and other customers there will corroborate.  I have the name and number of one such person if you would like to speak with her.  She was booked on the same trip and can validate everything that we said. There was another family there from overseas. I did explain to the owner that I assumed, in insisting that customers ride in the raft during the lightening storm, that he was relying on a waiver of sorts, but that such a waiver would not release him from liability for gross negligence (which would plainly be the case if he put people on a boat during a thunderstorm).  At no time did he offer to show us the radar and in fact, I specifically requested that he delay the trip until the storm passed and he refused.  My children were absolutely terrified by the man yelling at them.
