    I took the basic motorcycle riding course and was given a defective motorcycle to learn on and the owner told me the bike was defective. I was not given the time to practice on a working bike before taking the exam and as she put it I failed. The Owner does not answer my calls. If the owner does not want to rectify the error she should reimburse my money I paid for the course $320.

    Let me first start by stating that riding motorcycles is inherently risky and is not for everyone. When conducting a course, our instructors make student safety a priority. When administering the state mandated riding exam, our instructors are objective and assess points when students do not meet the states requirements.


    ***** took our Basic RiderCourse to learn how to ride a motorcycle on 04/08 and the class concluded on 04/09 at approximately 2:40 pm. ***** was assigned bike number 2 to begin training. ***** twice did not demonstrate control over the motorcycle almost hitting other students while parking the motorcycle in our staging area. He did not follow instructions and often missed the path of travel when the other 11 students demonstrated the correct path of travel.To be ********************** did not meet the objectives of 70% of the riding exercises and should have been counseled out on day 1 (04/08/23). At the start of day 2 (04/09/23), bike number 2 was not running correctly (kept stalling) and he was issued a different motorcycle that was performing correctly. He was able to practice on this bike from 8:00 am all the way through the state riding exam administered at approximately around 1:45 pm, over 5 hours of practiced riding time before taking the exam. ***** continued to not meet exercise objectives and continued to demonstrate difficulty with smooth operation of the controls. ***** failed the State riding exam because he was not able to weave around the cones without putting his feet down, could not make a turn from a stop without putting his feet down,could not make a left U-turn within the requisite 20 ft U-turn box, he could not get the motorcycle to an appropriate speed for the quick stop, could not get to an appropriate speed for the swerve, stalled the motorcycle once, and could not get to an appropriate speed in the straight away before the curve.Because of all these errors, ***** accumulated too many points to pass the exam.These are not my requirements, and I did not personally fail him. These are the State of Colorados requirements and are printed in the ******** Motorcycle Operators Handbook pg. 17 which can be found here: ****************************************************************************************


    Furthermore, ***** was provided with Motorcycle Rider Training Centers policies and procedures (also attached) which outline the required gear to participate, again a State requirement. ***** didnt show up with eye protection on day 1. It also states that there is no guarantee that everyone will pass the course and that this is a very physically demanding sport. *****'s hands were very shaky for the duration of the course which we spoke about. Visually, it looked like symptoms of Parkinsons, but Im not a medical professional and it could be a symptom of something else. I mentioned his shakiness and asked him to self-assess in the areas of physical, mental, social,and emotional aspects of riding so ***** could make those decisions.


    When class concluded, I had students who had not previously passed come in to re-test on the riding exam at 3:00 pm. We concluded the testing and finished putting motorcycles away and shutting down at 4:15pm on 04/09/23.****** class ended at 2:40pm, he called and left the 1st voicemail at 3:11pm, then a 2nd voicemail at 3:36pm. At this point, Im still administering the riding exam to other students and per the ******** MOSTs policies and procedures, I am NOT allowed to answer calls or be on a cellular device while actively coaching or testing for safety purposes. I assume this is where the complaint from not answering ****** calls comes from. Later, the same day, at 3:52 pm ***** sent his 1st email, and then another at 4:50pm.


    After we let ***** know that he had not passed his exam, I told him that he should self-assess again and take a couple of days to think about if motorcycling is something he really wanted to do. If it was, then I was willing to get him back in for another class at no charge if I had another student cancel (for an earlier class date). If he needed a specific date (as we are currently booked up to 06/03) to do his training, then I could guarantee him a seat that I normally charge $320 for only $75. I told ***** to think about it and email me with what he had decided to do. However, this complaint came in at 3:49 am MST on 04/10/23 which was only 12 hours after he had finished with the class. Not even giving me ***** hours to respond to his voicemails and emails.
