    I am a mortgage lender - have been for over 13 years. I was approached by ***** ******** of SMG Sullivan Promotions for a paid lead generation program. These are very common in our line of work. I emailed with him for weeks and phone calls (now will not answer the phone) about the cost, the details, what we would be getting etc. It came down to signing up and I got a cashier's check from the company for the $764.34 (emailed front page of the check, not the back) that was the retainer due to get started then I was supposed to mail the physical check. We were supposed to be getting 3-5 calls a day after getting set up. I have never received any and ***** is **** After he didn't email me back after 3 days, I called my bank and confirmed the check was cashed even though I still had possession of it. I filed a fraud claim through my bank and they said that cashier's check and guaranteed funds at the time of withdrawal and that they could not refund me, I would have to work with the merchant directly. I have tried calling. emailing etc. and no response.
