    This review is in response to a promise for a free estimate displayed on their website. Hopefully, someone else will be spared the dishonest practices weve experienced at the hands of Dryer Vent Techs.Dryer Vent Techs visited my house to ***** our dryer ductwork after I had found them on ****** and saw they offered free estimates. and was told over the phone that theyd be happy to come out and take a look at our situation. I wasnt able to be there, but my wife was home, so of course they made up some diagnostic fee of $125 and took advantage of the situation.As soon as my wife told me they had charged us, I called and reminded them that I was under the impression that this was a free estimate for purposed work that might be done in the future.The next broken promise was the guarantee that they would refund the $125.The NEXT broken promise was when they cashed the check 3 days later.Another phone call, and another excuse and a promise to refund the money.Im sure youve probably figured out where this stands as of right now.They still have the money.So, now Im forced to leave a review. Because apparently their 10+ years of service hasnt taught them how to conduct business with integrity.

    I wish I could say that none of the items in the complaint, are correct. However, my recollection of the facts are a little different. We do give free estimates, over the phone, if the customer can give us enough information. For cleaning or simple repairs, I can usually give a quite close cost. For installations, modifications or larger repairs, I always say something like: " We can't come out for free, but if you can give me enough details, I can give you a range". If a customer wants a consultation, there would be a Consultation/Service fee of $100 -$150. That fee would be applied to any work we ended up performing. That is what I collected that morning. After I had left, I got a call form ****************. He was very upset and thought that he should have received a free consultation. I told him I didn't think that was fair, but I would refund the $125. We have found that a lot of people call and want us to tell them how they can fix the problem themselves. We are not in business to do that, but we do offer the consultation option. By the time I got the call from ****************, I had already deposited the check digitally, via the banks app. That is our standard practice - to avoid having to get a duplicate check, if the check gets lost or misplaced. In Mr. ******* 2nd call, I told him I was just waiting for the bank to settle the deposit, before issuing a refund. This is where I missed up. I forgot to send the refund. I have never had to send a refund check before. **************** should not have had to call again, but if he had, he would have the refund. I was reminded about the refund late yesterday, via the negative review, and will issue the refund tomorrow.

    *************************, the owner of Dryer Vent Techs, came out to clean a dryer vent in my small, second story condo on July 20 which required him to go onto the roof. Afterwards, he showed me a video of the vent he cleaned on the buildings roof. While writing him a check for $220.00, I twice asked for a copy of the video, and gave him my email address. He gave me no receipt and said he would send me an invoice, although my check cleared the same day. A few days later, I left another voice mail request, again requesting the video, and waited to also receive the invoice, which has never arrived. *** has failed to follow through with his agreement to provide me with the video nor the invoice. Consequently, I would not recommend him.
