    Business Response

    Date: 06/21/2023

The following is a transcript of my original communication regarding the incident as stated.  At no time did I promise a full refund, rather that I would look into the issue and provide a refund if it was warranted.  As you can see from the time-line below it was determined that neither the tournament schedule nor the promoter (***************************) were at fault for the competitor missing their divisions.  They did have time, although not a lot due to how late they registered, to make it to their assigned ring and compete.  I have attached a document that backs-up the time-line shown below that comes from our tournament software system that tracks tournament performance in great detail.  When asked why ***** and ********** were unable to make it to their ring, they provided no answer.  Their only response is that Alexandria's two divisions ran at the same time which is incorrect, and that when they spoke to someone at a (720) number they were misled somehow even though as you can see, our number is a (303) prefix.

Also, the complaint is being directed to the wrong business.  Any reference to the following should be removed:

I am happy to discuss this in person if you wish.  Please contact me at your convenience.

    Thank you

    Hello,

As the promoter of the ******** Classic Martial Arts Event I want to apologize once again for the difficulties you experienced at the tournament yesterday.  Having had an opportunity to review the time-line of what occurred I can relay the following information to you:
It appears your registration was completed at 8:13 am
Ring 2  had a published start time of 8:00 am.  The divisions leading up to TF22 in Ring 2 ran with the following start and end times:
    CF6 started 7:57 am, ended-805 am
    CW6 started 8:09 am, ended 8:15 am
    M6 started 8:23 am, ended 8:23 am
    TF22 started 8:28 am, ended 8:34 am
Ring 1 had a published start time of 9:00 am.
    HC1 started 9:05 am, ended 9:06 am

We never recommend a competitor registering 13 minutes after a ring start time and showing up 15 minutes before a division runs however, as you can see from the time-line above, there was time for Alexanderia to get to Ring 2 for the start of TF22 and wait for the division announcement and compete if she was there.  Also, as you can also see, TF22 and HC1 did not run simultaneously with a 31 minute gap between the end of TF22 in Ring 2 and the start of HC1 in Ring 1.  You also mentioned that you called us using a 720 prefix number and spoke to someone who advised you how and when you should register.  As you saw yesterday from our tournament web site at www.coclassictournament.com that number is incorrect.  Had you called the correct number, **************, myself and/or my wife would have given you better information to work with to avoid this situation.

I understand how important it is to build confidence and self-esteem in students and competitors however, I cannot issue a refund based on the time-line and reasons above.  I am sorry that she missed her ************************** and hope that the exhibition she was able to do in Ring 1 in front of the spectators you brought provided some consolation to an unfortunate series of events.  Please call me if you wish to discuss this further.

    Sincerely,

    ***************************
