We hired a contractor named Jim Lelong to put our bathroom back together after a leak caught us by surprise and the bathroom had to be completely demoed. We hired Jim because a friend gave us his number. He quoted us 4,000 for the job which was to put up some framing for a wall and to then tile and waterproof a shower. We consulted with him every step of the way asking him if he has worked with tile / waterproofing material and such he said yes every step of the way. He got payment along the way basically $600 a day. We came home from work one day noticing he had not been using the material we purchased for waterproofing which is essential for a shower we confronted him about this issue we found and he assured us he was doing it the correct way. The next day we come home and see his grout lines were uneven, not paired up, not spaced correctly and he used two different tiles on one wall two different textures. We could also see behind tile spacers, and he did not use proper material that we had purchased. Before he arrived at my house the next day for work, and I asked him to take down all the work that was incorrect and start over. I would not pay him for the incorrect work, but that he needed to make right of the situation he then told me know that he doesn’t work for free. I fired him immediately. Then we had a tile expert come in and tell us what we would be looking at to fix the work he had done. He then showed us several several mistakes. Everything from the drain to the grout lines to the tile to the entire shower was done wrong he ripped us off. He clearly does not know how to be working with tile, and should not be working in custom fabrication, and everybody needs to know that he will do awful work
