Scary medical experience and shady billing at the ******** location.Went in for a crown, was anesthetized by a hygienist, not a doctor. After the second injection, my body bolted out of the chair because I could not breathe or speak. Suddenly my eye, my scalp, my throat, and my shoulder were all numbshe had blocked the wrong nerves AND some anesthesia had spilled down my throat. I could only breathe through my nose as my brain was telling my body that my throat was completely closed from the anesthesia. Even the slightest bit of spittle from my mouth would cause me to choke and hyperventilate. This was a terrifying experience. Not knowing if I would have to go to the hospital, I contacted my daughter and told her to take the day off work. I was held in the office for a couple of hours under the watch of the hygienist. At several points, she cried and expressed how sorry she was for the horrible mistake, which was alarming as a patient. Then I was cleared to go home to try to let it wear off. Unable to drive, my daughter came to pick me up. What was supposed to be a quick morning procedure turned into a dental nightmare and I was unable to work all day. A week after this horrible experience, I got a bill for $1162.80 for "what insurance would not cover" despite having already paid the $581 I was originally quoted and had already paid (they dont even get you in the chair until you pay that). When I called to ask about this outrageous difference between the original quote and this new amount, I was told an insurance specialist would call me to explain. Five weeks later, no call back. It took sending a registered letter to get a call back. The insurance expert explained there was a mistake and I had been charged UCR Fees erroneously. Had I just paid that bill, that money would have just gone to their pockets. She explained they were switching systems and were extremely busy. This is the worst dental experience I have had in five decades of dental work.

Billing bait-and-switch, you still owe us more money.1. Held hostage in the chair until you pay: This was a first for me. After the exam, if you want same-day work, a billing agent will come to your exam chair, review the bill, and ask for payment before work is done. This did not feel like a convenience, more like being held hostage.2. Surprise price increase: In July, I had an exam that indicated a long list of fillings and crowns that were needed, to the tune of $3200. I scheduled the work to be done across two visits starting in October. The night before my appointment, I received a phone call that they had "updated their systems" and my new price would be about $5300! They said it was my insurance company that changed their coverage. In October, I asked? So, checking with my employer and the insurance provider, they would only ever change coverage between plan years in January. Of course, I declined the work.3. Silly me, I went back when I had a filling fall out: We did the exam, set up to have the one filling restored and a neighboring filling replaced. I paid up front, again from the chair, and the work was completed. 11 months later, I get an invoice in the mail that says I owed another $41. That's right, no contact for nearly a year and now they say I owe. When I asked they said, "yeah, we haven't been very good about keeping up with the billing. But, we're catching up now and you owe this balance because the insurance didn't cover what we thought they would."Maybe there was a management change or something, because there are plenty of previous 5-star reviews here. But, lately, the reviews have been pretty poor.Anyway, that's why I'll never go back again. I hope I can find some honest dentists out there.
