      TWO COMPLAINTS: I called Jackson Hewitt Tax Preparers to get a price to have my taxes completed as it was my first time going to them. I was told it would be $49.00 as first timer. I went to the Jackson Hewitt at ********************************************************** on Friday February 14th as it is just around the corner from my residence. (Their telephone number is the same for all of the Jackson ****** tax preparers in ********.) I told my preparer I am a retired Federal Firefighter. My taxes were completed and was told it would cost $258.00 even for a short form. I told them I was quoted $49.00 when I called to get information about Jackson Hewitt, I was told that is the lowest price, but I had to pay $258.00. I paid the amount and went home. After looking at my taxes I noticed I did not receive the Tax Exclusion for Retired Public Safety Officers of $3000.00 as I am a retired Federal Fighter as I had on my previous taxes. (My previous tax preparer is not available any longer that's why I went to Jackson Hewitt.) I went back to talk to the Office Manager on *********** and he said he had to contact their main office and he would contact me in 24 to 72 hours. It is now Thursday 2/20 and have not heard from that office even though I call, each time it just rings. I tried contacting Jackson Hewitt in ********************** as they are the main office, was put on hold for 30 minutes, no one would pick up so now I am asking for help from you. Thank you!

      The state and federal tax returns were done incorrectly. The branch overcharged me for a "very complex" return which took them 30 days to prepare. After notices from the State of Colorado and the *** regarding errors in the returns filed by Jackson Hewitt we are left owing interest to the Fed and received a lesser refund from ********. No terms were ever discussed by the firm and nothing was ever signed. I proceeded in good faith as the legal trustee for my deceased mother and ill father. I will never use this company again and will never enter this branch.

      ***** TALKED ME INTO LETTING THEM TAKE THE REFUND AND TAKE THE MONEY OUT INSTEAD OF TAKING THE MONEY OUT OF MY DEBIT WHICH I WAS GOING TOO DO BUT HE SAID THAT THEY WILL GET IT FROM REFUND BUT THEY ***** TOLD ME THAT THEY BANK WOULD CHARGE ME ALSO AT LEST I SHOULD GET BACK THE MONEY THEIR BANK CHARGE AND I ONLY KNEW WHAT THEY CHARGE AFTER THE SIMPLE TAX RETURN WAS DONE. THEIR CHARGE 266 DOLLERS AND THEN THIER BANK CHARGE ***** WHICH I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE HAND.
