In October, my car broke down so I had seeked to resolve the matter with a auto repair shop since going to the local dealer was out of the question due to the issue I had previously had with bringing my car there. I had good faith that this mechanic would fix my car quickly, the money wasn't even a factor I just wanted an honest, hard working auto mechanic to help me fix the issues with the car and diagnose properly. It turns out it wasn't the issue. I was told the car needed a new engine, so I gave him $5k to purchase the engine that was needed for my car. I has asked him to check everything so whatever needed to be fixed can be fixed for me to rent my vehicle and/ or sell once the repairs were done. It was very clear that I wanted to fix the car right away without delay. Once I paid him, the mechanic said it would take about a week to get the engine. I waited patiently for months for the engine to come in. I asked him to send me a picture of the engine to make sure it was the same engine because at this point it took so long for the engine to come in and I paid a significant amount of money upfront for the engine which he states costed him $5,500. All I asked was that I have an invoice which states what issues the car was having and how much the repairs would be since my vehicle is under warranty. I was seeking to get reimbursed for my expenses. After months of waiting he says the car is good to go- it's perfect and that he has to take it for a test drive before handing it over to me. I get the car back and it's in worse condition than when I had left it for him to fix. The car broke down shortly after receiving it, which I was not surprised did. He had it towed back to his shop and is now asking for more money and holding my car hostage, saying they will charge me storage fees and I no longer want my car there. I had my car broken into and items stolen while at his shop. I am disgusted, to say the least that a man would take advantage of a single mother of four.
