I signed a contract for solar at my home. Eventually, the solar company recognized that the solution offered would not work. They wanted to do a different thing. On June 4th, I asked them - in writing - to refund the money from the original contract. I received a response and indicated I would entertain another proposal but wanted the refund and did not want to commingle contracts. Eventually, the salesman agreed and stated he would be "on top of it" via text which is provided - communication to me stopped. I have not received any communication in writing acknowledging my concern regarding the contract.

*** their contract cancellation terms - none of the items below were met.

Below lists work performed and Early Termination Charges: Fee Schedule if Owner shall cancel after work performed by Contractor:
    • Site Survey and Final Design: $1,500
    • Site Survey, Final Design, Engineering: $3,000
    • Site Survey, Final Design, Engineering and Permitting: $5,000
    • Site Survey, Final Design, Engineering, Permitting, and Equipment Ordered: $10,000

    To whom it may concern,

Since the receipt of this complaint letter, we have been in communication with Mr. ******* to clarify that status of his account and the next steps.  In most cases were we need to make changes to the originally planned solar and/or energy storage system, we are able to work out a new contract and apply the deposit already received towards the new contract.  However, in this case the sales agent working with Mr. ******* happed to move on from his role with the company in the midst of the negotiations for a new contract with the customer and it seems the desire from the customer to have the initial deposit refunded prior to working out a new solution was not fully communicated to our accounting team.  Upon review of this situation and communications with the customer, we will be processing a refund of the deposit as we revisit options with the customer.

We had our solar system installed the start of March 2022. The roof we had was old and we agreed to have it all done through our solar company SAVKAT. When the roof was installed in was wrong from the start and from my understanding not up to code. I was approached by a employee of the building department informing me a permit for the roof was never pulled. I promptly contacted SAVKAT and explained that to them and then a permit was pulled after the job had been started. In the process of getting the roof done they covered the ridge vents and damaged the gutters. The solar company contacted the roofing company and fixed the gutters and put two out of the three ridge vents in. Now hear we are just shy of two years and I get a call from my wife that there was water leaking in to our living room during a rain storm. I came home went into the attic and found the whole attic was covered in mold. I was quick to find an area that looked like the area that was most wet. I called the solar company the came out and said there was no leak it was condinsation and I should talk an insulation company. I promptly contacted the insulation company and they inspected the attic and found the leaking area and gave me a report with photos of there findings. I forwarded the report to them. After that they had a roofing guy call me and asked me questions like do I have kids,do I cook alot, and do I have pets. He says if I do that could be the cause of condinsation. After a painful back and for the solar company employee and I peeled back the shingles and found a leak and they came and repaired it. A couple days later it rained and my wife called me to tell me it is leaking again. When I called the roofing company and told them it still is leaking they were informed formed by SAVKAT it is a ventilation issue. I pulled back the sheet rock and found another leak in the area next to the repaired area. My house is still filled with mold and leaking.my children and wife have been exposed enough.

The solar company has come out and have been taking care of all the concerns we have had. The company ******* ******* who was hired by SAVKAT Solar is the company that has caused the issues we are facing. SAVKAT Solar has been taking care of everything and is doing everything they can to fix the problem even though it was ******* ******* who caused the original issue.

I have an unresolved issue to report, as well as several resolved issues that should be documented for this company. After purchasing a solar roofing system from Savkat Solar on 11/3/2022, our system was installed on 12/30/2022. Unfortunately, we did not pass inspection in January 2023 due to a wiring issue. It then took over 3 months of calling Savkat to resolve the issue. I called in February, 3/7, 3/22, 4/4, 4/13, and 4/20 before they scheduled another visit to resolve the wiring issue. After we passed inspection there was still an issue with the phone app to track the solar system. I called again on 5/10 to resolve that issue.

The remaining issue and main reason for this claim is as follows. Upon completion of a solar system, Savkat provides the customer with a $1000 check to help offset the cost of the loan payments and current electric bills (until the solar system generates enough energy to offset the monthly electric bill). In the various calls in March and April, I made it clear that we were expecting our check as soon as the project was completed, given the delay on their part. We still have not received that check, and after calling on 5/10 and 6/2 was not given an explanation why. I called today, 6/8, and was informed that they misplaced the check in part because our project manager no longer works at Savkat.

My desired resolutions are to receive the $1000 rebate check as advertised by Savkat, as well as the project close out meeting with an Energy Concierge and discuss processing the rebates and tax credits.

On 6/20/2023 we received a letter in the US Mail informing us of this complaint ID ********, dated 6/8/2023.  Prior to 6/20/23, we were unaware of a complaint being filed.

On 6/8/2023, our customer service team also had a phone conversation with Mr. ***** regarding the status of the customer rebate that he was to receive from SAVKAT.    A check for the promised rebate check had previously been issue, but apparently was lost in the delivery process.   Therefore, our accounting system had shown it as issued, but obviously it did not make it to the final destination.  As this issue was confirmed on between a call with the customer on 6/5/23 and the subsequent call on 6/8/23, the customer service team bought the issue to me, the General Manager.

At this time, I took a deeper look into this customer's account and found that the customer did, in fact, experience uncommon delays in the process of getting the installed to receive Town and Utility approval to turn the solar system on and begin realizing the benefits of the solar production at their home.  The customer does happen to live in Town that is particularly tough on passing inspection, and it appears that there may have been a misinterpretation of whether the original inspection had passed, which was the primary cause of delays in the post-installation process. Due to this information being brought to my attention, it was determined that to help make up for these delays in getting the solar system turned on that SAVKAT would issue an additional rebate check to the customer equal to the value of three monthly solar lease payments.  This in addition to the $1,000 rebate check that was already promised to the customer.  The two checks were mailed to the customer on 6/8/2023, and as of a conversation with the customer this morning, it is confirmed that they are received, deposited, appreciated and the customer considers this case closed.

    Sincerely,

    SAVKAT INC
