I am a resident in a senior living condo community. The problem I am having is in regards to a thick black electrical-looking wire that was exposed by the landscaping company that routinely does the groundskeeping. When they exposed the wire, I contacted the property management company and asked that they have him or someone take care of it. I had thought the wire had been removed or buried back into the ground. That was until a few days ago when I was walking around the side of my unit and noticed that it was still above ground. I am 65 years old, and I have no idea what to do about this exposed wire nor why the landscaper rooted it out of the ground. Knowing that it is still there, exposed, it makes me very worried. It is near my bedroom window and I don’t know if it will create a fire. The property management company keeps ignoring and/or canceling my request about this, without any explanation.

    Hi,

The service request was just received by this unit owner on 06/02/25. This is not an emergency therefore a response was not provided until today. The unit owner has now filed a complaint with BBB and the **** ** ****** ******** **********. We have no record of receiving a request pertaining to this matter prior to the one submitted on 06/02/25. In addition, the unit owner is referring to a cable wire which is a unit owner responsibility unless the landscaping company did indeed cause the damage. We have requested the unit owner to provide proof that it was the landscaping company who caused this. Without proof we cannot accuse or hold the landscaping company accountable.

    Thank you,

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The management company has been aware of this issue from its inception. A request was sent to them for this issue inclusive of an issue with the same contractor’s employees creating a hole in the siding of my unit on the same day. They continue to lie about their responsibility for addressing this problem. I have no idea why or how this wire was unearthed but it has absolutely nothing to do with my cable company. My cable wires are located on another area located on a wall near my living room, which is on the front side of the property.  This wire was uncovered and cut by their landscaping contractor, which I advised them of previously. The person that was sent to repair the hole made by their contractor refused to address the exposed wire. I do not feel that it is my responsibility to repair, fix, or provide evidence of the damages caused by their contractor. I am not an electrical contractor. I have no idea what this wire is or when it was placed or where it came from. What I do know is that it is not a cable company issue since there has been no negative effect or disruption of my cable services.

    Sincerely,

We requested proof that the landscaping company caused the wire to be cut. The unit owner refuses to provide it. Furthermore we have been provided with information that this unit had ******* in the past which was located in the area of exposed wire. To our understanding the ******* service is no longer at this address. However, whether it is a cable line or ******* line, it is the unit owner's responsibility. As previously stated, unless proof can be provided that the landscaping company caused this wire to be exposed and cut, we cannot accuse or hold them accountable.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not now, nor do I have any recollection, of having had any other internet provider other than **************** Furthermore, the property manager is well aware of when their contractor, ******* ****** and his undocumented workers exposed this wire from beneath the ground. It was reported to management in the same incident request to repair the openings that they cut into my siding at the same location by the same company’s employees who do not speak any English. The employee that was sent by the management company to repair the damaged siding blatantly refused to address the exposed wiring. I find it suspect that the management company claims to know nothing about the wiring being uprooted by ******** undocumented employees, claiming that they have no record of me reporting the incident, yet they can supposedly find false information about a service that I have no recollection of ever having. They expect me to provide proof of something that they are already aware of and refused to address. If my memory serves me correctly, the person who was sent to repair the cut holes in my siding was the owner’s son and he refused to do anything about the uprooted wiring. I do not need to provide proof of a situation that they were already made aware of and refused to remedy.

    Sincerely,

The unit owner’s statements clearly contain unsubstantiated
claims/accusations regarding the management company, association, landscaping
company and its employees. We stand by the information already provided that
the wire is either cable or *******. The unit owner claims to never have had
******* however, we have documentation from the association contradicting her
claims. The wire is not the association’s responsibility. There is no evidence
or proof that the exposed wire was caused by the landscaping company. The wire
serves only her unit and it is her responsibility to have removed. I have
attached photos and recent email communication regarding the matter. We hope
the BBB will review and close this matter. Thank you.
