  I’ve been meaning to share my experience, as it’s something I hope no other parent has to endure. Last May, my son was abruptly removed from this preschool, and the events leading up to that decision were deeply disheartening.
  Initially, things seemed fine, but over time, red flags emerged. Staff turnover was constant, with new faces appearing weekly. Some staff members were unprofessional, often on their phones or unaware of what was happening in the classroom. During drop-offs, one teacher was cold and unwelcoming, adding to the discomfort.
  Despite these issues, my son seemed happy, so I gave the school the benefit of the doubt. From the beginning, I was transparent with the director, Tara, about my son’s self-soothing behavior of lightly banging his head to fall asleep, which his pediatrician assured was normal. This was never an issue—until it suddenly became one.
  Judgmental comments about my son’s energy levels and my use of a childcare voucher made me feel unfairly singled out. Then his teacher began questioning his speech, which led me to arrange a professional evaluation. The results showed no developmental concerns, but when I shared this, the teacher was dismissive.
  The final straw came when I was told my son couldn’t return without a doctor’s note for his self-soothing behavior, despite the director being aware of it for months. I was given a 24-hour deadline and threatened with a CPS report if I didn’t comply. When I explained that a doctor’s note couldn’t be obtained so quickly, the school followed through on their threat. I withdrew my son immediately.
  CPS quickly cleared us after an investigation. My documentation and statements from his pediatrician disproved the school’s claims, which were clearly fabricated.
  Thankfully, my son is now thriving in a school where the staff are caring and professional. Parents, trust your instincts. High turnover and unprofessional behavior are red flags. There are better, safer options than this preschool.

Our top priority is always the well-being and safety of the children in our care, and we approach each situation with that in mind.
  While we strive to build strong partnerships with families and support all children in our programs, there are rare instances where a different setting may better meet the needs of the child and family. We truly wish this transition had been smoother and are glad to hear your son is thriving in his new school.
