Vehicle operator came in on 2/24/25 with a noise that was determined a tune up would correct.  Operator made appointment for the service for 2/26/25.  Upon getting the vehicle into the shop and on the lift, a full vehicle inspection was done which found that the following parts would need to be replaced:  all spark plus and coils, all filters, wiring to the plugs/coils as the current ones under the hood had been chewed by mice, and also a sway bar link.  The customer was advised of what would be needed for the tune up and what other repairs were recommended.  Customer was quoted and fully aware of the fees involved for all services.  They declined the sway bar link replacement and ask that we move ahead with the tune up.  Once complete vehicle owner came in to pick up the vehicle and now claims they were not advised of what needed to be repaired or quoted.  We even offered a discount on the pre-quoted additional labor for the wire replacement that the mice had destroyed.  We would not have moved forward with a portion of the recommended repairs, or ANY of the repairs for that matter without approval from the customer.  The customer knew and agreed to the charges before work was done to the vehicle and those charges need to be paid before the vehicle can be picked up.  We will be more than happy to supply the customer with a paid receipt once the services are paid for.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a towing service contracted by ***. My name is **** ****, and I experienced significant issues with the towing process that occurred on the night of February 2, 2025.

I called *** around 11:00 PM because my car had spun out and was stuck on the side of the road. *** informed me that a tow truck would arrive by 1:00 AM, so I waited, but no one showed up. At 9:30 AM, I received a call from the number ###-###-####. The caller introduced himself as the driver who would tow my car but then told me that *** would not cover the towing. He offered to tow my car for a charge but refused to provide an estimate for the price. I told him I would call him back if I decided to proceed.

I then contacted *** to confirm the situation and learned that they were unable to cover the towing costs. At this point, I arranged for my own towing company to retrieve my car. However, as my towing company was en route, I received another call from the same number. The driver claimed that the police were forcing him to tow my car, which was later disproven. I contacted the ***** ******** Police Department, and they confirmed that the driver had called them and stated he was dispatched to the job, but no police had been involved in forcing the tow.

My main concerns are as follows:

The driver falsely claimed that my car was not towable, yet he was able to tow it.
He lied about being forced by the police, when in fact he had called the police himself and stated he was dispatched for the job.
The driver's behavior was unprofessional, rude, and inappropriate both during phone calls and in person.
I was pressured into paying a cash fee to retrieve my car after I had already arranged for my own towing service.
I have attached the text messages and further documentation to support my complaint. I request that this matter be investigated and that appropriate action be taken to address the driver's conduct and the misleading information provided.

In regards to this complaint, we are going to explain procedures.  Yes, we were called out to this vehicle by *** roadside service. The driver reached out to the *** member when the call was dispatched to him and when he arrived on scene  Per *** regulations, the member and registered owner of the vehicle (if different people) must be present on scene with the vehicle for service. As *** is a road side assistance service they offer services such as towing, flat tire changes, jump starts and lock outs.  As stated in the complaint and confirmed by the photo evidence, the vehicle was not on the roadway and needed to be winched back to paved roads to be properly towed.  This service is not covered by ***. Per procedures the driver advised the member that *** may not cover his service request and was waiting on an answer from *** as to whether or not they would cover the service.  Also as procedure when a vehicle is found to be off the road way the local police department has to be notified in case there is property damage to where the vehicle came to a rest so a police report can be on file so that the tow company and  *** can not be held liable for the damages.  The police dept dispatched an officer who then advised our driver, who was already on scene as dispatched by ***, to removed the vehicle as it was a hazard.  They did not want to wait for another tow company to arrive, and advised us to removed the vehicle before we left the scene.  Unfortunately in this matter, the *** Member who was not at the vehicle at this time, was at the mercy of the officer who was on scene, and was not willing to let the vehicle sit any longer where it was.  We proceeded as advised per the officer and removed the vehicle and towed it back to our shop where it now incurred the bill for the recovery service we provided and towing of the vehicle back to our shop.

I brought my 2007 **** ******* in on 6/4/2024 for a metal grinding sound and a loose pulley sound. I went in at 9am and repeatedly stated I needed a quote before any work was to be done. I left and called @noon. I was told it was my axels and they needed to special order the parts as their local supplier did not have the part. I was also told they were still going over the car and would call me back. I called at 3 pm again asking for a quote and was told the manager Frank was dealing with another customer who didn't want to pay and didn't speak English so it was gonna be a bit. I call back at 5 and they were closed. Now they have my car overnight without my approval. The next day I call at 9 and the phones are still going to the answering service. I wait until 11 and call again, again it goes to the service. They tell me they don't know why noone is answering at the shop. I call again at 1245 and finally Frank answers. He tells me the car is all done and it's $927.21. I get upset repeatedly complaining they never got approval to do the repairs that I NEEDED a quote first. I'm terminal and money is very tight. He said sorry but it's done come get it. I go and the car is not done. I pay the $927.21 plus a $40 car user fee ( x2 as I had to use my debit and credit card as their machine wouldn't accept the full amount on one card Frank said it's something they do to protect themselves). I wait an hour. During which I ask why I wasn't given a quote. Frank said oh sorry but it's done now. I also ask why 2 different charges for the axels and was told the right is harder and bigger so it cost more. Not true per my new mechanic. Frank then gives me a quote for further work of $1600. It takes an hour to finish despite being told it was done at 1245. They also claimed to replace the serpentine belt. I drive out and both noises I went in for are still there. 3 days later I go to *** for sons drivers test and find the right tire has lug nuts missing, the side the mechanic rushed

I filed a complaint against Mike's auto but was unable to fit in the full complaint on the form.

As I drove out of Mike's I noted the exact same loose pulley sound I brought the car in for. I was very upset over being charged over $900 so I did not go back in. On the receipt it states there was just over $700 for the estimate ( I was never told this or agreed to it verbally or in writing). Then the final was over $900 and that was never approved. I took the car home and over the next month the noise got worse and I was afraid to drive it. I only drove it once a week to Smilow Cancer Hospital. The steering felt really loose and I contacted another mechanic (******* *******) of *****. He put the car on the lift and saw the under side protective shield had its clips broken off and were zip tied back!! My car was NOT like that prior to Mike's working on it. He also noted the cotter pin was missing off the axels causing the axel to slam against my tire center cap. Had I not had the center cap my tire would have fallen off while driving. He stated when the axels go bad there's specific damage  you would see , there was no evidence of this. Had Mikes actually spoken to me before theyfixed it I would have informed them my axels were previously done at Midtown Motors, I have the receipt and there is a lifetime warranty on the parts. Because they failed to use the cotter pin,my tie rods were now damaged and needed replacement. Mike's claims to have done the serpentine belt but Anthony showed me the belt on my car, it was old looking with groves in it. It's very clear it was never changed. My water pump was leaking antifreeze, Mike's failed to diagnose this. My power steering pump also needs replacement, again Mike's failed to diagnose this. I've never seen a garage not try to get you to fix as much as possible to make more money. The axels and tie rods were a huge safety issue. I also had an oil leak that Mike's failed to diagnose. Because of the protective shield underneath I never saw any leaks. Anthony replaced the serpentine belt, fixed the axels, installed the cotter pin, replaced the tie rods  replaced the water pump and the valve cover gasket. When I contacted Frank at Mike's Auto he repeatedly apologized and told me to come back they'd do the serpentine belt free. They were paid to do it and clearly never did. I was told the owner hires druggie and they don't last long ( by Frank). He assured me the owner would call me but to date has not called. I just spent $920 plus the card machine fee of $40 x2 at Mike's and an additional $850 with Anthony (to fix what Mike's messed up or failed to do). I'm requesting my $920  plus the $80 in card fees returned. They did not have my permission to do the repairs, did the work incorrectly and failed to do what they were paid for. I'm a single mom who has an inoperable tumor in my spine. I need my car and trusted them to do a good job. They should not be allowed to continue operating this way.
