My doctor issued order for blood work on February 14th, 2025. I had appointment with UCONN Health blood laboratory on March 11th, 2025. During appointment, assistant of nurse couldn't find my doctor's order, and I provided her with original doctor's order. Doctor order didn't include blood work for ** **** ** blood draw with code ***** and H* ******* ****** ***** with code *****. I included doctors order as proof to my words.
On March 26th, I received bill for services that were not rendered. Doctor's order didn't include ****** test with code *****, but UCONN Health billed me for it.
Doctor Order included ************* ********* panel with *** code *****, but I was billed for
** ******* ****** ***** ***** and this test with code ***** wasn't rendered at a time of my appointment. I included UCONN health bill as proof to my words.
I believe in a good faith that UCONN Health made mistakes with my bill. Moreover, on March10th, 2025 I ordered Free T4 test with code ***** from Quest Diagnostics in Vernon CT, and I paid for it fully. Quest Diagnostics in Vernon CT is different blood laboratory than UCONN Health laboratory in Storrs, CT. It's illogical to pay for Free T4 test at UCONN laboratory because I didn't have this service in their laboratory. Mistakes happen but UConn health billing department does not want to fix them.
I want to add that my medical insurance Anthem Blue Cross doesn't cover Free T4 test. Therefore, I took this test at Quest Diagnosticsin Vernon. I don't
have Anthem Blue Cross insurance since April 1st, 2025. I contacted Anthem Blue Cross representative on March 31st, 2025 but representative did not provide any good help and did not care about incorrect bill or insurance money.
I contacted UConn Health billing department 7 times by phone from March 31st, 2025, April 1st -April 8th, 2025 and i talked to 5 different representatives. 3 Customer service representatives hanged up on me and didn't wish to talk and help me with incorrect bill.

      To Whom It May Concern:
I have actinic keratosis, and I must see a dermatologist every 6 months.
I made and kept an appointment with Dr. B**** *** at UCONN Dermatology on Wednesday, 08/21/2024.
5 spots were found, excised, and biopsied. The cost was $3,365.00 which my ************ ******* PPO paid completely.
However, UCONN HEALTH charged me an "Out-Paient" Fee ( ... code for WALKING INTO THE CLINIC and KEEPING AN APPOINTMENT... ) that cost $3,304.00. Now, I'M EXPECTED TO MAKE A $305.00 COPAY !!!!!!!
IT'S BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS that UCONN Health CAN DOUBLE-BILL a PATIENT FOR KEEPING AN APPOINTMENT !!!!!!!!!!

NOT ONLY SHOULD UCONN Health BE FINED, THEY MUST BE REQUIRED TO "CEASE AND DESIST" THIS ILLEGAL PRACTICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Yours in truth,

All of UConn Health's Dermatology clinics are part of UConn **** ******* ******** and are considered a hospital setting.  The services provided at these locations are billed like other hospital services.  What this means is that there will be two components billed, a Physician component and a Hospital Component.

The Physician component represents one or more of the following: Evaluation provided by the physician, review of results of any test or procedure, recommended plan of care or treatment.

The Hospital (Facility Bill) component includes costs associated with one or more of the following: nurses, medical assistants, administrative services, special medical equipment, more extensive hospital certifications to operate the clinic for infection, prevention, documentation, and extensive staff training requirements.

As a patient this means you may receive two bills depending on your insurance coverage.  You may incur a greater out of pocket expense for this visit than if you have received this service in a non-hospital setting.

All of our patients are informed of this prior to their appointment via a letter and are also presented with this information at the time of their appointment which requires a signature confirming receipt.  UConn Health also provides contact information for our Estimates team who can assist with providing an estimated cost of these services.  I can confirm that this information was provided at the time of the appointment and was signed and acknowledged at this time.

A review of all of the charges was completed for this encounter and it was determined that these charges were appropriate.  A follow up phone call was made to the patient on 9/27/2024 to explain and assist with any further questions or concerns.

I went to the UCONN Health walk-in Urgent Care Clinic in ****** on 1/5/2022 for a COVID illness. They are just billing me now and they are billing it as an ER visit and expect an ER payment. They are also billing it as an "online" visit. My insurance company has called them several times to have them correct their billing and I am getting nowhere.
