      My Daughter and her friends (and many other ******** students) bought tickets to a Halloween party held on October 31st, 2024. The event was being organized at a local ********** Restaurant (***** *****) and tickets were sold by New Haven Nights ***. (costing $30 each). The night of the party many students (approx 50+) including my daughter and her friends were denied access to the party as the organizer had oversold tickets above the legal occupancy limit of the venue. The owner of the restaurant was not aware of the oversold tickets before hand.
      Most of the students who did not get in applied for a refund (as they were told to do) through the New Haven Nights website. No refund was given to the students.

      As a parent, since November 2024, I have left numerous messages and emailed the company (through their webpage) to ask for a refund and I have not received a reply or call back.
      I have talked to the owner of ***** *****, who tried to negotiate on my behalf with the owner, and still no refunds were issued to my child, their friends or any other student denied access.
      I was given one of the company owners number : ###-###-####, name TJ.
      I have not called this number as yet. I would like your help in speaking with New haven Nights and have them refund the money to all the students who were no allowed access to this event on Oct 31, 2024. I have copies of the tickets for my daughter and her friends. Other students have submitted refund request directly online as they were asked to do. I would like BBB help get the students their refund and not only help resolve this situation but prevent this company from taking advantage of students in the future. Even though a single ticket was only $30, collectively the company made a lot of money without providing the services guaranteed through the oversale of tickets.Students who were not allowed to attend must be refunded the money owed back to them. Tickets sold had a QR code so can be tracked for use on the day of.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      The Business has recently ( February 2025) refunded my money ( for two tickets) only after I filed a complaint with the ********** ** ******** ********** ** ************

       They had plenty of chances to refund and respond since November 2024. Starting with the 1. refund requests sent by the students as they were advised after the event;  2. to the email and messages I, myself had sent them, 3. to the requests from the owner of ***** ***** and 
      4. as documented in the BBB communications, not responding even to my complaint filed with BBB. It was only when I went to the government that this business responded quickly. 

      Whatever may be the reason for not allowing ticket holding students into the venue, there was no excuse to not refund their money and that falls on the organizer, not the venue. I hope New Haven Nights will refund the money of all the other students not allowed entry and correct their business practices and or website to make it easy for patrons to contact them and receive a refund.
