In January, 2021, it was brought to our attention that consumers had received letters via USPS from an unidentified firm with the return address of "Negotiations Department." The correspondence does not identify the sender, and it points to a PO Box for an address. The letter directs the consumer to call the phone number provided about their unsecured debt with the notice that "Failure to Respond could result in accruing of interest on unsecured credit balances at an unreasonable rate."
Our investigation revealed that there have been numerous reports nationwide. When contacted by phone, the operator stated that this campaign is linked to GRT Financial, a Debt Relief firm in Michigan. Their marketing company is responsible for the USPS mailings.
Since this firm does not have a physical presence in Connecticut, we have forwarded all information and documentation to BBB serving Michigan
