As a Campus Director my job is to ensure there are instructors to teach and are available to students daily. I will commend my instructors for an extremely hard work as I have seen their tireless work and commitment to seeing students through. I will always respect them and speak highly of them for their work no matter the drawbacks and circumstances that might have happened or the miscommunication. It is unfortunate these comments are only now being made now that actions have been made to close the program and was never brought up when I asked for their inputs or concerns during the period of weeks, they were here with us.

By the ***** ** ***********, a school has to only have one truck, there was always a truck available to the students, however, students were refusing to drive in the Manual and suggested as a school we also have an Automatic to which we complied. It took past the period of 3 months for Mr. ***** to obtain a permit which is way past the time he is allowed as the program was only 8 weeks. A number of students did not and could not grasp what was being taught and still were not able to obtain a permit even after the period of 8 weeks. We took additional steps allowing them extra time by extending beyond the 8 weeks to which students still were not able to obtain their permits and a verbal declaration was made to which students verbally agreed they had only a set time or they could no longer be a part of the program. Only then did we see students put the effort in to obtain their permits. Our decision to close the program came down to safety and security of all individuals involved be it students, instructors, DMV officials or innocent road user.

Students should not be behind the wheel of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without having obtained a permit. According to the ******* ***** ******* ****** ************** *******, a student should have already possessed a commercial learner’s permit before such drivers are allowed to operate a CMV that requires a CDL. Students were complaining about not getting time behind the wheels even though they know they did not obtain their permit, but it is protocol and mandated before taking them on the road, Mr. ******** being one of those students.

The Commissioner of the DOT (who is very important) was invited to the graduation to garner a relationship to open the doors of opportunities for the graduates. I am as much disappointed as anyone that the opportunities given were not taken seriously and the program had to come to an end.
